For people making sprite mod submissions, does EVERY sprite in your sprite mod have to be completely original? Almost all HUD related items and many of the character stuff in me and Neu's entry will be coming from various sources, but be assured that much of it will be drawn by me.

On that note, if you have a partner helping you with sprite mod stuff, do they have to be present on the forums? Neu (my partner who helps with the code related stuff in all my mods) has an account here, but he's never used it. He only used it once to talk to Vindicator about chat related code.

For those who may be thinking I'll be entering Sc-Fi Mod, I can't enter that because it was made before the Haxxy was announced, and it also already won the 2010 mod of the year. It wouldn't really be right to enter it again!

Well, actually, in a sprite mod all you do is show off your spriting abilities, so I'd rather see your own stuff.

Dang.. almost all the HUD related stuff is cut out of Halo 3 screenshots, and most of the character body sprites were given to me.. almost all the guns and half the helmets were drawn by me, but that's not gonna cut it, is it? I'd say that only 30% of the mod is drawn by me, and that's not really displaying my ability to draw a sprite.. if only I COULD enter Sci-Fi mod!

Looks like I've got nothing to contribute for the awards...  

Oh well... thank you for your time, Elkondo! Maybe this would be a good rule to add, that the submissions for sprite mods MUST be drawn completely by the submitter.

Oh, and believe me, I CAN draw a good sprite, just look for the Sam Fisher mod to see my best drawn sprites. I don't just rip sprites from other people all the time, I merely did it for Halo mod because, when I volunteer to begin working on it for a friend, they had already had most of the sprites made.

He said that we should make a thread about questions, rather than flood that questions thread with them. I guess he prefers it that way so that it's more orderly and it ensures you don't miss any. Makes sense to me!

Yep.. I was all set to ask Neu to pick up the pace on the code work. Having a set deadline is a great motivator, and at this point there's nothing left for me to do, all that's left is stuff with code. When you're able to work on a project "whenever you feel like", you end up procrastinating for weeks and weeks, something I've learned the hard way.. And even after learning that, it's STILL hard to keep focused on the projects!

You wouldn't be able to submit it anyway. All submissions except for screenshots need to be made /during/ the Haxxy Awards so people don't have an advantage over others.

It would technically be made during it.. technically.

But I see your point, me and Neu have been working on that for months.. It would be like comparing a full 2 year production video game to a bedroom programmer's flash game made in a few weeks. It's unfair because the former had loads and loads and LOADS of time to perfect every little detail, add multiple features and make everything as spectacular as possible. The latter only had a small window to throw something together with minimal resources. Besides, another reason we wouldn't be able to post it for the Haxxy's is because Jordanlol provided most of the character sprites, so he'd have to be listed as a third creator.. and you can't have a third creator for sprite mods.  

I still wanna do something for this event... how about I act as an art mercenary for anyone who wants to make a sprite mod and knows how to code, but doesn't know much about making sprites? Since there's nothing for me to do with Halo mod, I'll be a freelance sprite artist!

Whoever gives me the coolest, most appealing idea, I'll work with to the best of my ability!

i started insmod in february of 2010. so am i disqualified from entering as well? if so, i think that's bullshit, and will definitely decrease the quality of the entries. 2-3 weeks isn't a lot of time to put forth a fully featured non-spritemod.

But you can just draw pixels over those screenshots to make it 8-bit-ish and it's fine, I guess.
