This is a server plugin that gives to characters headboxes that function like those in TF2: headshots can be achieved only with zoomed sniper rifle shots. The default damage multiplier is 3x, since I'm a TF2 purist.

-Headshot damage multiplier can be modified in gg2.ini>[Plugins]>critical_multiplier.
-Conflicts with plugins that change the SniperRifle ev_user3 event or the SniperRifle ev_draw event.

If ajf wants to make it server plugin, I'll uncomment the reticule code. Otherwise, that part is pretty hack-y and I'm not sure how I could make it not so.

I'm open for balance suggestions. At the moment, I haven't played a game with this active so I don't know what sort of balancing this needs. Sniper is already pretty overpowered, so make some suggestions.

Thanks to ZaSpai and the other guy that was there for helping me test it. And now thanks to everyone that joined my server for additional testing.

Having trouble finding the QC head zone. :drool:

Tested with itemserver running and works fine (though remembering the default head zones can take away concentration for the shot lol)

Given that 3x dmg for a 75 full charge > 200 it's in good faith to TF2, though maybe there could be a crit rampup as the charge increases (maybe from 1.5 or 2x up to 3x for the full charge?)

I think the crit message needs to be a bit higher up from what it is imo

Maybe add a new kill icon for headshots? :p

It's Quote's hat. It might conflict with the sprite's hitbox. I'm not sure. Quote has a gargantuan head, so I don't know whether to make his headbox huge or tiny. I picked tiny, and I'm thinking that I shouldn't have.

Not possible without script editing, which I'm not willing to do because it sucks.

I need to put up an edit of this anyway. In testing, I've noticed that it's impossible to hit a crouching sniper's head.  I'm going to make the sniper's headbox bigger while crouching in order to fix this. Y/N?

Make crouching sniper head box include his hat methinks. Firing to the crouched head as is from the front and underneath didn't register the crit (from behind, it did) (Is the rifle obstructing the hitbox?)

Sniper is already the class to use against q/c at long range. At short range, q/c are the hard counter to sniper, though. I'll sit on it for the moment and see what develops.

Either way, updated the link to the next version.

Still haven't managed to hit Quote's head :drool:

Also I assume this is a quirk of having the plugin active but not as host, but the headshots show as hitting (the crit message) and don't count (as per what I was trying to say on USS)

Probably need a few Sniper vs close range Quote tests on your server or something to see if having headshots makes Sniper a full hard counter to Quote (also if itemserver's active, trying to hit where Quote's hat was becomes tough when my Quote hat items are equipped :z4:)

Haven't tested this yet but I x3 is probably game breaking as hell lol, x1.6 should be absolute max imo
As a penalty I believe disabling the sniper's weapon for some time if he spends more than over x seconds (say 5-6) scoped in would be cool and kind of interesting. Basically, good aim and moving around a lot gets rewarded and camping gets punished

Okay just tested it on my server, x3 is waaaay too much, gonna try 1.4-1.6

Also, bug report: this doesn't seem to work when I'm not the host. I was playing on a server that was running, it and whenever I headshot someone it showed the animation and my damage indicator showed numbers above 150, but it would only do normal charge damage like -55 or -60. Like, after I headshot a medic for -165 I'd still need two more charged shots...

RBY are you sure you're playing on a headshot server?

Well when I joined the server and shot heads the critical sign showed up along with high damage numbers

You need to be on a server that's running this plugin for it to work.

The download for the plugin basically handles all of the cosmetics while it's up to the server to handle the mechanics.

do that if not, then i will test it
i like the idea, to me in gg2 rifleman is not as varied and versatile as he could be if he had headshots
