Actually, if you made doors that could be opened via shooting them (ala metroid, complete with explosion only versions) Map makers could probably have a ball with those.
I have actually thought about this idea before. Even though it would be really cool, it doesn't serve a purpose other than to slow down players. In Metroid, they were used to compartmentalize rooms for mapping and scrolling purposes (probably also memory caching depending on the hardware).

Well, I'm thinking it would be useful in tdm. might cause people to choose fight over flight.

Was Slain meant to be able to jump from base to base on truefort?

It doesn't matter if he can or he can't. He's got a dash hop and can "rocket jump" with his M2. It's not like it is gamebreaking if he can get to the other base.

The answer he's looking for is "No, but it doesn't matter anyway."

Besides, rebel can jump just as far if not farther. As the maker of Truefort-Rebel run I can testify jumping from one side of the map to the other is a one jump job.

I didn't design the default maps, therefore it is irrelevant as to what you can do and abuse in them. That's my point.

edit: actually im lying, i did add one thing to some of the default maps. i plugged up some holes in the spawn rooms so sorc can't tele in. As for mobility based exploits (slain, dante, rebel, doom, anna, techno, snare, saniman), I don't really care what they can do. The maps I'm designing specifically for the mod will try to keep some of these things in check, so you don't get ridiculous snare flips over entire maps (classicwell, conflict, etc) or crazy platforms only accessible for rebel/doom/gravity flips.

Hm, one slight request, since Slain, Dante and Techno have no Down+M1/M2, can you consider moving the Q key to one of those two ? Those three classes are unplayable if you use an AZERTY keyboard with ZQSD since they rely on the Q key to be efficient.

Unless you already planned to do that, of course.

---

On the subject of making INSMod-Themed maps, I'm trying to do a jungle-ish map to fit z4Giraffe's origins. I'm aiming for a Donkey Kong Country ambiance coupled with some slight futuristic elements : One of the team's bases is going to be the ruin of an "INS Laboratories" building, not sure which team thought).

I want to know if the concept idea is good enough to continue or if the art and wallmask have to be scrapped altogether because they don't fit INSMod.

You know it would be really cool if the Q key was remappable in INS mod. It could be called "tertiary fire".

Remapping is a good idea. What confuses me is why anyone would use a non qwerty keyboard. They don't seem to offer anything superior, and as the standard picking up your speed on qwerty is the best idea in the long run.

Maybe because some keyboards are built differenty for other languages?

Qwerty doesn't have any fancy accents or stuff like that, like some of the other keyboard styles. at least, that's my rough guess.
