Yeah, I agree. But, if you're on the run and want to make one fast, it should definitely be an option.

You'll have to compile the map in the editor anyway, so why not place objects while you've got it open?  The mouse-clicks you save by not drawing it in your graphics editor can be used to place the objects in the GB.

Also, why not just draw in the intel? A certain colored dot of red and blue could be used to determine where the upper left corner of the intel is.

Because an editor can show the intel as it would appear in-game, which is more user-friendly.

How about using gradients for combined doors? Like, Say, Orange for Red team door+Setup gate, Green for Blue team door and setup gate, something like that.
