Bullet Doors/Floors Problem
« on: August 15, 2009, 01:34:53 pm »

Okay, so I've made a couple of maps before, but I seemed to experience one problem in GG2, particularly with the bullet doors and floors.  By that, I'm mean doors and floors that people cannot pass through whereas bullets can.

Take ctf_glasshouse as an example (it's actually really fun).  The map looks like this, for those who haven't seen it -

It is comprised mostly of bullet doors and floors.  However, whenever I play that map, my character bounces up and down as if the ground is not level, but elevated and lowered in some portions.  This happens to me in Garrison Builder too.  When I make a map with bullet floors, the bullet floors act like the ground is uneven, no matter if I made the ground completely level.  I was wondering if this problem occurred to anyone else, or if my bullet doors/floors are just being glitchy.  Thanks everybody!

Ah, yes. This also happened with me when mapping the spy crab maps. I think its a result of overlapping the bullet doors, but I may be wrong.

Ah, that makes sense.  Do you know if the bullet floors work correctly now?  I notice that the bullet floors in my maps act weirdly at first but then correct themselves later in the game... but that happens to me every time I play...

Well what I did is I had the bullet doors overlap each other at their very ends.

Well that might be desync or lag.

It can't be lag, because the host gets this, too.

I believe it's a problem in the game code

I thought Bacon fixed it? Oh well

It has happened to me too, and probably to anyone who has played that map. Could be some collide issue.

While we're at it, there's a part in the map where bullets can't get past, even though they're supposed to be player-proof walls only. It's the box that is on the right side of the map. Shooting from different angles, whatever you shoot hits a different spot that seems to always be a single pixel. You can even place stickies there (Not tested placing an autogun though). Could it be the same problem?

xD

All of this reminds me of the one time I hosted a 3-person LAN party behind a router. So much fun, but my friends were experiencing desync as if I were in some other country (not including Mexico, considering it's only a 30-minute drive from here). I think it was partially because it was a map of a shopping mall (a big one, too).
