/v/idya [US West] - 20 Slot Votemap Public Server

Welcome!
This is /v/idya's server thread. Feel free to comment, make suggestions, or talk about it in general. I'll post server/page updates in this thread but usually you can visit the Homepage/Votepage for the latest updates.

/v/idya is one of the few developer run servers (the other being Bacon Town) and has been modified and maintained to address the issue: I've made a custom map... but who will host it!?

It's considered a large server by definition... (remember when it used to be 32 slots?) still. So it may lag for people who do not have the processing cpu/power on their PC to handle this many players. It's also located in the US (California) so check your region. If you find it laggy or not palpable I urge you to find another server that will suit your needs to give you the best possible Gang Garrison 2 experience.

Information
  • Software: Voteserver v2.6 [For GG2 v2.1]
  • 24/7 Dedicated
  • Located in sunny California [US West][5mbit]
  • Runs on a Vote Cycle
  • Vote Lobby [Server needs time to download/upload and process information here]

Note: Don't report bugs that occur on this server here. (these forums) This server is heavily modified and is not officially supported by the developers. (aside from myself)

Humble Beginnings
Originally, /v/idya was made to test the extremes of what GG2 servers were capable of. I worked with MedO back then reporting back network issues and crashes. Back then, there was no such thing as a player limit and very often the player list literally overflowed to the point where you couldn't see who else was in the server.

Q: The server's name is... /v/idya? Does this mean!?
A: You guessed it, that's where this server originally was created from long ago when the first Gang Garrison threads were made. This is the one and only, not to mention original (/v/ dedicated) and oldest Gang Garrison server still around.

What a nice thread.

Nowadays, I prefer the smaller sized servers, but when I had started playing, yours was definitely a favourite of mine.

A 15 player limit would make it probably the best server.

Of course this won't happen and I'll still never play on it.

Since the cpu limit on the hosting laptop doesn't break the 10% mark I REALLY wanted to set up a second 12 slot server for the sake of always having a custom server and a normal server online 24/7 and ultimately change the names of both servers to:

/v/idya [Vote Maps]
/v/idya [Stock Maps]

However for some reason if both servers are on the same network even if it's a different PC (using different ports) there's an issue where the lobby simply will not display two servers that share the same IP. I'm not sure if it's a issue with my router, the lobby server, or with how the client handles a double ip entry when generating a lobby list. (I'll check into the latter) That's about the only thing preventing me from hosting a normal sized stock map server.

That would be great.

Normally, when your server has about 12-14 people playing, it's as good as Bacon Town.

But 10v10 kills my computer and others as well I believe.

/v/idya is a great server. but it lags from time to time. not a big deal but it's definitely because of my distance away.

I always wanted to see this on a good server that people fight in.
Mind giving it some thought?

Also: That picture that contains all the posts about the start of Gang garrison on /v/ should be on original post.

Added. I don't know why you call it ctf considering its a cp map. Therefore I have added it under "cp_collab".
Also, I can't credit both of you as authors so I put Theta Zero as the author.
