Shouldn't our Message of The Day become Message of Whenever We Feel Like It?

Unless someone is working serious overtime for daily corny comments, once a week would be awesome, if not once a month would be great

It means there was supposed to be a new release for the first quarter of 2017, but it's been delayed.

What happened is, in order to make it easier to make the new rewards I finally finished the headgear system I started working on two years ago. This means simple hats can now be added with just a few sprite frames instead of having to make a hat frame for every underlying animation frame.

However, this is a fairly large change and so it doesn't really fit the idea of the "minor" January 1st release. Also it would be good to do some more work unifying the different approaches to character overlays that we have now.

Also yes, still waiting for the actual hats to be put in now that I did the groundwork :P

A good example of simple hats are the party hats, which are now defined like you can see here: https://github.com/Medo42/Gang-Garrison-2/blob/newHatSystem/Source/gg2/Scripts/Gear/initGear.gml

This takes care of selecting which sprites to use for the hats, shifting them to the right position for sniper and engineer, overriding the sprite for Querly and then overriding the sprite for a few frames in the Pyro's taunt where they are partially covered by the raised flamethrower. The system takes care of shifting and rotating and even flipping the hat in the various taunts and animations.

So now that the update is live the Haxxy rewards should be added in "not too long to make the community die more than now" time, right? :heheangel:
