[Client-Side] Cinematic Spectator

Cinematic Spectator
This plugin causes the spectator view to smoothly follow combat, good for videos.
Groups of players are followed by default. The spectator tries to track as many players as possible, without teleporting the view somewhere else.

There are 3 modes
  • Normal mode - Vanilla spectator mode, follows players strictly.
  • Intel tracker - Causes the view to follow an intel (BLU or RED)
  • Auto tracking - The normal cinematic mode. This mode follows groups of players and tries to observe all the action.

To switch between these modes, press Control. Using the arrow keys overrides the tracker and allows you to move the camera.



To install this plugin, download "cinematicSpectate.gml" and put it in your Plugins folder

Bug fix: Fixed all spies being untrackable. You can only track spies now if you are a spectator or the spy is on your team.

Good point. I will smooth the acceleration and inertia of the auto tracker.

Update!
  • Improved auto tracker AI so favors tracking groups of players in conflict.
  • Made auto tracker take interest sentries as they are interesting objects
  • Made auto tracker take more interest in players carrying the intel
  • Smoothed auto tracker's pan even more

Here's a plugin to go with this plugin. It allows you to bind keys to switch between tracking modes (red intel, blu intel, or toggle auto/normal)
Default keys are "," (red intel), "." (blu intel) and "L" (toggle auto/vanilla).

You can change the keys in the plugins options, in the ingame menu.


Edit: changed default keys from "K", "L", "M" to ",", ".", "L"

Rebinding them to J (Red) K (auto/vanilla) and L (Blu) since M is Team Selection menu.

Can you update this so if the gamemode is not CTF, Intel Tracking become Whole Team Tracking?
That way actual team fights become easier to capture when streaming/recording?

While an Arena I found a bug:
1.Die
2.Follow manually an enemy spy (uncloaked)
3.When he cloaks, don't touch the controls and you'll have a pretty good idea of where he is

Red, being in arena mode should automatically deactivate the possibility to track enemy cloaked spies

Why? If it's auto tracking and not locking on to the cloaked spy themself, there's no problem. It's meant to keep all possible players in visible sight and you're dead anyways, by the time to typed a location they'd have probably moved or killed the target.

YB Updated plugin override today. Default binds are RED J, Auto/Vanilla K, and BLU L
However in your gg2.ini, these lines should pop up under [PLUGINS],
Code: [Select]
smoothSpectateBinds_key_mode3=76
smoothSpectateBinds_key_mode2=190
smoothSpectateBinds_key_mode1=188
These are overrides lines to the override plugin, (overrideception?)
Mode3 = Auto/Vanilla, Key is L
Mode2 = BLU Intel, Key . (aka >)
Mode1 = RED Intel, Key , (aka <)
