I actually played this game a couple years ago, just found it again this week. It's an incremental text-based idle game: you start really basic (there's one button to press at the start) and gradually get introduced to new options making things a little bit more interesting one step at a time. It eventually leads to a bunch of resource management and exploration of a world map (your character is an @ symbol). Give it a try. I like using the dark background- it should say 'lights off' in the bottom right.

I think the fastest strat is to maximize wood production. Hut prices scale linearly with workers you'll have to get wood, so after you wean yourself off clicking to chop, it takes no more than the same fixed 2-3 minutes to increase your labor potential for the rest of the game (sans occasional fires). Build all traps along the way and use event fur with the event trader to get as much bait as you can buy.

Also if you beat it once turn on hyper mode on bottom by clicking the word hyper, it makes everything fight in the adventure mode much, much harder.
