I have been testing out parallax layers but I cannot get them to appear behind the BG and WM in Garrison Builder.

What I have done so far
  • I load a new WM.png
  • Then using the box on the bottom right I load the BG.png
  • Next, I press the up arrow to L7 and load the L7.png. I click on offset and then click save again
  • I then do the same thing with L6 and the L6.png. I click on offset and then click save again. Both L7 and L6 have the same X and Y

Nothing appears in the Garrison Builder

I click on the metadata to check if the information is there and it is.
Here is what it looks like

One thing I have noticed is that I am missing the arrow pointing right that I read about in above posts (you can't copy paste it in etc; spazz).

What I am not doing
I am not adding the L7 and L6 layers to the 'Add Resource' thing on the left side. From what I gathered above this is only done if you want to add FG entities.

What I have done
  • I have made all the maps the same aspect ratio = 150 x 150. I think I read above that this was necessary, but I'm not sure why or if I have done this correctly.
  • I have placed spawns and tested the maps to see if starting a game would compile the layers. This has not worked.

The .pngs I am using
BG
WM
L7

L6

Any help is appreciated.

Hilarity.

Before that, I see no Alpha for Layers 7 or 6. While you don't need it to get the parallax to work, you won't be able to see past that layer. I recommend finding a program that isn't MS Paint (Paint.Net might work) and try GIMP 2 or something else.

Edit: The BG MUST have Alpha to see past it to the parallax layers. If you turn off show BG, you should see your layers

Edit: Or Imgur (where you uploaded) doesn't like Alpha? Idk

Recreated the images, as your files seems to error my 2.8.5 DSM and vanilla GG2, they open just fine. It's odd how when I tried to move your files into GIMP 2 right away, it notified me that the colour mode was moved to Greyscale. Don't do this and stay to RGB, colour.

Please note your wallmask is full of jpeg compression, so you'll have a fun time trying to rid all the none 255,255,255 and 0,0,0 pixels. Best to just remake the files and save as a PNG as the original formal.

Edit: If you're unsure of what I mean, here. http://puu.sh/xXGhD/c01f9cda46.png
Edit: I don't see any compression in your image however. So it might just be an Imgur thing.

I'll have a look at GIMP 2, I've been using Paint.Net.

I think it might be Imgur that has caused the jpeg compression. I can still open the original WM and BG and test them in GB.

Ill upload the files below this post as an attachment.

What does this mean??? I think imgur busted the pictures.

Done. There's still the compression issue from the Imgur uploaded files, so just remove the 255,255,255 from the BG image + Layers on your original files and you're golden.
The x/y factor on the gif is .5, did not know the layers looped. Interesting....

??????

RGB, always RGB for basic stuff (including GG2 maps) which I don't even know what would require Indexed.

Ahh! look at that!

Ill download GG2 again and try it from a fresh start. I think Lorgans plugins might be doing something odd.

Alright cheers Spazz

Im not sure how the indexed thing got into it

Just in case as I'm heading to bed. You can open to see the metadata, and unpack this for the files

GOT IT!

IT WAS ME! I was fucking up.

I see what your saying with transparency. I went and watched a youtube clip* and I've worked it out now.

Also, the loop thing you discovered with the .5 thing is great too, its what I need for this maze thing.

Top Job Spazz!

* for anyone who doesn't know what transparency does
