TOURNEY RULES

Match Rules:
- Double elimination format
- 5 v 5 vanilla (4 v 4 if both teams are short)
- Best 3 out of 5 rounds to win the match
- Highlander (no double classes)
- Any and all team classes (including Quote)/compositions allowed
- 10 min matches
- 8 second respawns
- 4 caps to win on ctf

Map Rules:
Each team picks 3 maps and the other team will scratch one of the other team's picks. A random map from the map pool chosen by the host or organizer will then be added to the match.

Scheduling Rules:
There will be 2 matches scheduled per week. Clans have the freedom to pick on the date and time for the match, but IT MUST BE WITHIN THE ASSIGNED WEEK. Hosts will be determined by general population of the teams. If you cannot organize a match in an assigned week, you are able to place a postponement in advance. Note, however, that you are allowed only TWO postponements. NOT two postponements per match, but two postponements OVERALL. If a team uses those two postponements up, and does not show up to a match, they get sent to the loser's bracket. A repeat performance will mean THAT TEAM GETS KICKED OUT FROM THE TOURNEY. If a match is scheduled and a team does not show up with any postponement in advance at all , they also get sent to the loser's bracket. A repeat performance will mean THAT TEAM GETS KICKED OUT FROM THE TOURNEY.

Extra Rules:
- Freezetime plugin will be used.
- You can use whatever chat plugin you want, just make sure BOTH teams agree.
- Dkoth maps will NOT be accepted.
- If the lag is too much, try to get a sub. If nothing can be resolved, you are allowed TWO postponements overall. USE THEM WISELY.
- One organizer will always spectate a match.
- Disputes over matches/unexpected events will be handled on a match by match basis.
- You can use any sub as long as he is not on the roster of a competing team.
- The stance on mods/hacks: "If you use clockmod or anything else your entire team gets kicked the fuck out." - Intel Guard

Since it's a summer tourney, I'd rather switch it up and give more flair and diversity to it. Of course if we can't muster up that much people, I'll do 4 v 4's. The winter tourney will still be 4 v 4's cuz that's standard.

also what is your stance on arena? loads of people prefer arena_contra over the koth version and arena montane is a good map too

I already talked about it there, but I do see that it's insufficient and vague. Sub rules would go like this:

5 v 4: I'd allow a sub in this case.

4 v 4: I would NOT allow subs even if they are available.

4 v 3: I would allow a sub in this case.

3 v 3: I might allow subs, postpone, or even 3 v 3 if both teams feel that is in their interest.

2 v 2 to 1 v 1: Why are you even here.

You bring up a good point with dkoth. The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that the game mode can be infinite. I have noticed a plugin on a server (I forget which) which stopped the game after a predetermined time and gave the win to the team with the least time. If somebody could tell me where this comes from or how I can get it, I actually might reconsider dkoth.

As for arena, I was actually very enthusiastic about it, but for some odd reason, after the update caps are messed up and give errors everywhere which sometimes leads to people accidentally aborting. Unless this has been fixed recently, I wouldn't recommend arena.

dkoth really doesn't last as long in comp, it can become a stalemate in pubs with high player counts when people literally don't push out and just turtle on the point, in low player counts you're basically forced to go out and the time will go down fast, unless the teams are really evenly matched which tbh isn't the case with most matches
I personally haven't played with that plugin but I can imagine that people would abuse it by playing extremely passive when they have the least time. People sometimes do this in 5cp tf2 (park the bus) so idk, kinda depends on what the playerbase here thinks of it

it would be a shame if arena couldn't get in though, maybe push a small hotfix patch?
