Menu background guidelines (with examples)
« on: July 19, 2013, 06:14:44 am »

GOOD:
(click to show/hide)
Original GG2 backgrounds.
They are heavily inspired by the tf2 ones, but not traced. GG2 has come a long way since then, that's why we want completely original art now.
Every character and weapon shown appears in the game. They differ from their counterparts by detail and colour.

BAD:
(click to show/hide)
Old unused GG2 background.
Obviously traced, not even the colours were changed to match the GG2 ones.
Shows items that never appear in the game (hat, bow, wrench).
Doesn't change the characters in any way (grenades on soldier's belt).
Light rocket smoke might make some of the menu difficult to read.

If you have any questions, please post them below.

I would like to ask that menu backgrounds should be drawn at 75x75 (please) or 150x150 (only if you REALLY want to, and we REALLY like it) resolution, and if you want extra credit, you should add extra details on the sides to the tone of making the picture 75x100 or 150x200.

Also, a majority of detail on the background (especially character's shapes and background details) should be at the 75x75 resolution.

doing things this way makes it much easier for faucet to use your menu background after the menu overhauls are completed. otherwise we'll have to modify them in some way, which is unartistic.

75x100
Do you mean 100 x 75? I was told to try expanding my own entry to 100 x 75, and now I'm a bit confused which dimensions it should be.

The picture is not my work but I retouched some parts, the wrench was a nightmare. All that work for nothing :z7:
