Ok, so here's the updated work.





I've decided to change the subject a bit. Originally I wanted to depict a dropstab situation but I realized that the angle I drew the pyro is wrong for that subject (it's too shallow and can't show anything high above the pyro).

Well, I'm pretty satisfied with this final iteration. Let me know if you find anything wrong with the image(s) that could be improved.



THINGS CHANGED:
-Saturated the background so the depth differences are more clear
-Cut down on background tones
-Redid cigarette smoke and made the cigarette more clear
-Shaped spy head so its thinner and more defined (rather than round)
-Repositioned Healer heal beam and recolored the minigun so its more clear which way its facing
-Recolored Healer arm band and gloves
-Removed incendiary grenades on the Firebug
-Signature

Looks great, though what are those uhh... "things" to the right of the pyro's head?

also, you may want to make it look more GG2-ish, right now it looks too TF2 ish to be used as a GG2 menu screen

so you mean simplify the detail? i'll see if it fixes anything.

and that stuff is just me being messy and not organizing my color palette.

got it. i put it there because i just wanted to see the positioning of things as it is.

Nothings wrong with a TF2-ish art style, but when your considering a TF2 ish art style in a GG2 menu screen, thats a different story.  If a menu screen for GG2 reminded you more of TF2 than GG2, then thats where things go wrong.  I normally wouldnt post on here if I saw nothing wrong with a drawing, and there would be nothing wrong with it if it werent for the category he was entering in bc hey, the drawing is damn good, but as a GG2 menu screen, it just might be a little too much TF2-ish.  Keep up the good work Conan.

well if the art i see you do is tf2ish, i dont see why you should criticise others for using tf2 style art. anyways id rather not let this extend into a debate and have it split from this thread so im ending it here.

its because i'm shading it as if its 3d. gg2 is clearly 2d (if you haven't realized it yet) and has 2d-style art to accompany it (whaddya know).

i'll cut down on the shades i'm using and try to "flatten" the image.

i don't really like scrapping the style i have so far so i'm going to make two different pieces and then decide from there.

and yes i have a version w/o menu layer

Could you show me how to do that once you're done? The main problem with my entry so far is that it's TOO flat.
