Hey all!

Although I'm still relatively new to the forums, I like this game very much, and thought that I would participate. So, here is a pixel-art version of one of my favorite off-screen characters, Miss Pauling, the Administrator's assistant.

I plan on adding some background art in the future, and maybe throw in the Administrator herself alongside her aid if I can think of a cool setup. The current image is very basic (just Pauling herself) but I think it's good enough for a starting point.

If you have any suggestions for improvements, please let me know.

EDIT:
Hey all, AGAIN! Last minute but it was worth every second of work; my boyfriend and I have put the finishing touches (or as close to "finished" as it will be before the hyper-extended deadline, anyway) on this, now featuring an improved Miss Pauling, the Administrator herself, and a background to boot! The only thing it needs is a money-vomitting machine and it will be perfect in most ways (yay bribery!)

Here be the link for this ultimate special limited collector's edition PLUS!

And bigger!

I like the minimalist style to it, but if it wants to fit into GG2 it's gonna need some shading.

Excellent representation though.

This.

Also try adding a little angle" like on your profile pic.

So, here's the basic idea:
1) Assume a spotlight position and angle. Imagine the shadows that would be cast by the subject due to that light. Shadow accordingly. Note the intensity of light you want. There's a difference between a harsh spotlight glare versus a simple lamp stand, due to the reflection and diffusion of light across the space.
2) Based on the subject's surface warping, add shadows to bring out those shapes. Ex: under the breasts. Remember to keep them accordingly toned relative to the diffusion of light you've already considered in step 1.
3) Keep the 3D consistent. In your example, the shoes perspectively contrast a lot with the overall pose of the character, which implies shape.

As the deadline has been pushed back another week, I want to get some more feedback on this admittedly now-old pixel art.. thing. Looking at some of the other pixel-art entries, I feel like what could really help this would be a background of some sort; however I'm not totally sure what kind of setting it should be, who else (if anyone) it should feature, and [insert 3rd thing I forgot about here].

I have an idea of having Haxton Sale (the character not the forum member, lol) and the Administrator (or Boss Lady as I like calling her in GG2) featured somehow, but I'd thought I'd open up the discussion while there's still time left on the clock.

One final bump and I think we're done here. It's been over a month since I started on this image and I've learned alot about pixel-art-making. Here is the final version of this tribute to my favorite off-camera characters (see it LIVE [?] in the OP), Miss Pauling and Helen.

Have a good night/day everybody!
