BTW, if anyone wants a background added, here are guidelines

- 75x75 base resolution
- Dull reddish color scheme like the existing ones
- Don't show anything that doesn't exist in GG2
- Don't show secrets
- Don't show non-stock maps (really you should avoid maps anyway) (old stock maps that were removed are fair game)
- No text/numbers

BTW, if anyone wants a background added, here are guidelines

- 75x75 base resolution
- Dull reddish color scheme like the existing ones
- Don't show anything that doesn't exist in GG2
- Don't show secrets
- Don't show non-stock maps (really you should avoid maps anyway) (old stock maps that were removed are fair game)
- No text/numbers
To add to that:

- Backgrounds are 600x600, not 800x600 like the main game
- Provide a short ASCII title for bottom-right of menu

Yes, but the actual backgrounds downloaded are 600x600 PNGs. The actual default backgrounds GG2 uses are also 600x600 PNGs.

i think the color scheme should be changed to any scheme that doesn't make the buttons look invivible

Not all of them. I don't think they'd have to be dull reddish. It would be nice to see dull blueish ones too, perhaps even some other colours. Backgrounds should probably be dark, but they don't have to be reddish.

Hmm. The code as it stands isn't designed to handle that, but I don't see why it couldn't.
