Author Topic: Check if the server is full before downloading server plugins [worked around]  (Read 1939 times)

If the server has server plugins currently, and you attempt to join and are told the server is full, you have to reset the client.

This should change. It is quite annoying to deal with.

did you know that spinning stars work like this???

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. execute_strings on fire off the shoulder of Overmars. I watched object-beams glitter in the dark near the room_goto_fix. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain. Time to die.

Possibly, but you don't have to reset after a map download.

Possibly, but you don't have to reset after a map download.
Hmm, that's a fair point. Perhaps I could separate downloading and execution. Although, to be honest, the real problem here is the fact the server even accepts connections when it's full. Why doesn't it reject the client immediately?

Because the count on the lobby could be incorrect if the lobby hasn't been updated?

He's not talking about the client checking the lobby playercount, but the server sending an immediate connection denial if the server is full.

Yeah, exactly. While we're at it, we should also change the way passwords are handled. They should be the first, not the last, thing the client is asked for.
