Honest question: does anyone ever use the graphical kicking?
« on: December 01, 2012, 12:21:28 pm »

For those that don't know: In GG2 when hosting a server and you're spectating, if you bring up the scoreboard there are little boot icons next to each player. If you click one, it kicks them.

Since I'm the one who implemented this feature, I'm just curious if anyone has actually used it. While I thought it was probably quite obvious and intuitive, I'm starting to wonder if that's really the case.

did you know that spinning stars work like this???

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. execute_strings on fire off the shoulder of Overmars. I watched object-beams glitter in the dark near the room_goto_fix. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain. Time to die.

I don't like it because

1. it includes no banning functionality
2. it looks bad
3. it obscures the class badges
4. it doesn't work on spectators (which is a pretty big deal)
5. it isn't made clear that they exist at all

1. true
2. true, I'm surprised nobody's tried to fix that
3. really? I thought I made it so it didn't.
4. Yeah, that was something I was supposed to fix...
5. yup :/

I've used to to kick away killers during that one time when I hosted RJ maps once...

I've also kicked people just idling in spawn. It's too much when a quarter of a team is just idling on a full server.

Yeah. I need to make it more obvious, somehow.

A real banning/kicking menu would work better

No, this works better than that, because it's clearer who is who.

I share that sentiment. I've made a pull request using a menu (well, a menu item that brings up scoreboard with kick icons, and normal scoreboard won't have them).
Also, spectator kicking. :z6:

My improvements have been merged! https://github.com/Medo42/Gang-Garrison-2/pull/87

Now there will be a link in the in-game menu that brings it up, you can kick spectators and members of either team, but not yourself.

Which makes far more sense than spectating and bringing up the score board.
