Yep, that's borked.

As for likely reasons why, first, your GG2 Map folder and randomizer map list are not linked, it could legitimately be that the map wasn't in your folder. Or, RM may load maps differently and the plugin wasn't likely to work anyways. Either way, I'd likely need a full recode for the mod's support, so at least until 2.5, that's unlikely to occur.

I've been playing on Soviet Giraffe lately with map voting.

What I've noticed is that random is currently annoying, to some degree. Not because people vote on it a bunch, but because it feels so much like a shot in the dark.

My idea, as an intermediate between individual maps and voting on rotations, is categorization. So, you'd have a map_voting folder, and you'd be able to place, categorized in groups, in text documents, the maps you'd like to play.

The random map would be taken from these categories and when voting, the random map's category would be listed with it, so it'd be like:

Code: [Select]
ctf_steampunkfort: 39%  Random (Difficult Rocket Jumps): 12%  ctf_conflict: 54%

Any thoughts/ideas to improve idea?

Just change global.eventBuffer to global.sendBuffer

I think there should be category-voting, like ctf (serious); ctf (fun), rocketjump, cp (serious) etc.

The categories have to be set by the host.

Now we have server-sent plugins, this should probably be rewritten entirely to be unobtrusive and work more like in Source games (a little popup at the side)

did you know that spinning stars work like this???

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. execute_strings on fire off the shoulder of Overmars. I watched object-beams glitter in the dark near the room_goto_fix. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain. Time to die.

I'm working with the zombie plugin right now, actually. If someone wants to port this, that would be awesome.

I'm running a 2.5.2 server. I followed the directions to implement the plugin and also modified the code because I was getting the same error as Silent Boom.
The map voting room loads but it doesn't pull in any maps for selection.

Is there an updated version or am I missing something?

I've updated the plugin in the OP. I just tested the new version on a fresh install of GG2, it should now work. Give it another go.

Thanks Machidro!

I was still having the same problem with the updated file but was able to resolve it. The plugin won't load maps if you have Dedicated=1 in the gg2.ini, or if you use the -dedicated switch in a shortcut. Is that something you're willing to fix? If so I would greatly appreciate it.

It actually was in a semi playable state. Zombies got picked, players got teamswitched, infections worked, etc. Lack of testers and time to clean up code put a little bit of a damper on the project.

I have other things in the works. Stay tuned.

Bug: rebooting after joining a server (because plugins) and then hosting doesn't populate the map list.

I wonder if the map shuffling broke it?

Nah, it did that prior to the update.

It might be that the forced restart from plugin installation fucks it over, but I'm not sure.
