Integrated Map Editor

Let's face it, nobody likes Garrison Builder.
Garrison Builder has no central development. Releases are disorganised. Its code is a mess. It lacks support for some map elements. It includes map elements that don't actually work in GG2. Its interface isn't user-friendly. And it's a seperate download.

I am proposing we should replace GB with a map editor, built from scratch, that is built-in to GG2. I am already working on one, but I'd like to discuss the idea here. Should people object, I can always seperate it from GG2 and call it "AJF's GB".

yea its annoying without it, because you will run in spawn, change class, but takes the whole respawn time, instead of instantly just like changing class in the middle of battle

The game is incredibly bloated. We don't need to bloat it more when a perfectly good system is already in place.

The Map Editor wouldn't add a significant amount of bloat. It's tiny.

Perfectly good? You clearly haven't used GB. It's all over the place, the code is horrible, the UI is unfriendly and the development is disorganised.

So work on that instead. Better system and less bloat, you could even make a gg2 simulator in the new program so we don't have to launch the damn game just to test a map.

But GB is fundamentally broken and by rewriting it and integrating it into GG2, we can not only ensure developer attention, but reduce code duplication to a minimum (a lot of stuff is copied between GB and GG2).
Plus, no seperate download.

funnily enough cspotcode was entirely rewritting garrison builder into netbeans and got pretty far, but since we haven't seen him in upwards of 6 months, its pretty much on hold

Yeah, I'm aware of that project. I wanted to do something similar myself, but I am doing this instead because I want to reduce code duplication.
