On Youtube, I've seen a few parodies of the Meet the Team videos, GG2 style. The people who made them directly copied the soundtracks from Meet the Team and portrayed their events in a pixelated world. While that may be a little cute, I think they're doing it wrong. As any player should know, the people in GG2 do not communicate with words, but with pictures. And if there were a Meet the Team video for GG2, it would also have pictures, not voices. I've had ideas for what the Overweight should "say" for a while now; This contest just encourages me to actually try and implement them. I have a few lines for the Rocketman and Healer in mind too, but one class is probably enough work for me.

That's my inspiration. It's a good idea, right? But I am an amateur. I had the same problem when I tried entering the Polycount contest for TF2. I now have some questions to ask:

1. Am I allowed access to the class sprites? If so, where could I find them, how do I use them, and what credits would I need to provide? (same if so for the next 3 questions)

2. Am I allowed to use emoticons from the game?

3. Am I allowed to use music from the game?

4. Am I allowed to use sounds from the game?

5. I'm thinking of giving an option for subtitles if people want to more clearly understand the pictorial dialogue I put in. I don't know flash or anything, I was just thinking of submitting two separate versions with and without subtitles. Is that okay, or should I only have one version?

6. Any recommendations for programs I should use?

I have no idea how you would do video, for stills use Garrison Guise.
Yeah, I believe you can use all sprites freely, this is a FREE OPEN SOURCE game after all, so...good luck.

Anyways, I suggest you to gather a group and really do the filming in the GG2. It gives the best impression.
There are many screen capturing/filming programs, you may want to choose yourself.
Don't use hypercam, though.

I really really don't understand why people hate hypercam. It doesn't lag (as much as fraps does), is free and doesn't have some "recorded with ..." on the video.

Yeah, you can use stuff from Gang Garrison. You can use stuff from other sources too, as long as you credit them.
You only can't use other people's art in Art categories, but despite being under Art, Other Stuff has pretty much no rules.

Sorry! I take it back! It was too harsh of me to say those videos were made wrong. They were well-made, and effort went into remaking the scenes in 2D. But I felt that with the copied audio tracks, they were not as original, or as GG2-y, as they could have been. And please don't use profanity.

Okay, now I've got some programs to work with.
Microsoft GIF Animator to make animated GIFs with.
GIF to AVI SWF Converter to turn the GIFs into AVIs.
And later on, I should be able to put the AVIs together
and add sounds with Windows Movie Maker, which is
already built into my computer.

I made an animation of the Overweight jumping down
from a windowsill to the floor. I think it's a nice entrance.
It took me a while to make this, and even posting it was
not easy for me. I had to pay $8 to put this on
ImageShack without sacrificing the animation or the size.

On the bright side, the rest of the video should be easy
to make, until the fight scene at the end.

You could have probably saved the $8 if you looked around a bit instead of choosing imageshack

But I love the work on this, a few of the bubbles are probably going to be hard to understand by some but I enjoy them

3x3? Really? The screenshot I used led me to believe it was 6x6. Got proof?
Anyways, I want it to be that big. It's supposed to be zoomed in x2.
What's beyond the edges of the building isn't important, and it makes
the speech bubble pictures easier to interpret.

Now, for the battle scene, I think I'll just play as BLU Overweight
on dirtbowl, record videos of it, and use what I think is a good clip.

So I have an important question to ask: Is there a way to get rid
of the indicators for point control, the "who killed who" thing in the
upper-right corner, and maybe the cursor?

If I have to edit them out of the video myself, it'll be a huge pain.

About the HUDs / the cursor, well you could always mod them out. Not sure about the kill log, thought, might be harder.

Get the sprites and make them completely transparent.
