Don't blame stupid people for being stupid. Learn to prepare for the worst case scenario and always show up for your own events. Don't expect people to do anything unless you're there to tell them to. Also learn how to mute/kick people in irc. You find things work a lot better if you just kick people out of the irc channel if they're being stupid.

I always show up for my own events. I just honestly don't prepare for like 3 subs+ clan 1 member vs clan 2. Even if we tell them what to do, they don't listen at all. I think mal or anyone else who has to tried to organize something lately can speak about this. Also, we sometimes already have problems having to do with us not having enough people, why would we kick the ones we do have?

Clan matches being hard to organize is simply just problems with people not being committed. Don't see how a lobby gui would help that.

This is when people realize it's a game and they have something more important to do.

This is when people realize they shouldn't have said they could make it.

Except they don't and do the same thing repeatedly.

There is nothing more truer in GG2 history than this.

Sadly I can't find your PUG thread, or I could cite some examples of what went wrong. The biggest thing about events is being clear and concise about the time and dates. You need to update the thread title, op, etc etc constantly. I've already written most of this out somewhere else, go look for it. Basically if an event doesn't work, the reason is either the organizer did something wrong or not enough people actually wanted to do the event. You shouldn't even hold the event in the last case.

Also, we sometimes already have problems having to do with us not having enough people, why would we kick the ones we do have?

Then mute them.

Then there's something wrong with how you're communicating. Don't pussyfoot around it, be clear about what you still need and mute/kick anyone who's causing an issue. If someone keeps it up, don't let them compete. Don't let the players control your event, otherwise no one will respect your leadership. Why would people listen to you if they don't respect you?

Mal deleted the comp forum pug thread, so no more pugs for a while:

Why was the PUG thread deleted?
in the rage following the final pug that we didn't start as usual, mal deleted the thread.

I'd go into specifics but I'm posting from my phone which has a tiny keyboard, I might type it out when I get home soon :V

Yea, but the problem is organization.

That shit wrecks everything.

If you can actually get 8+ forumers into irc at one time, go right ahead.

It's a much tougher challenge than it seems.

I think the Old school regular match thread (made by agh) was the most successful incarnation of semi-competitive play. The main difference was that it was far less structured and didn't compromise the schedule for the participants. The times were set, and you either show up and play some matches, or you miss out. It was also more lenient on people joining late, because there wasn't a rigid team "picking/balancing aspect". Obviously if teams were extremely stacked, we'd change it (ie. me, vein, agh on one side), but generally most forumgoers can hold their own in respect to everyone else.

The problem with the PUG thread organization in both threads, was that half the time was spent trying to figure out a good time for everyone to play, which wastes a lot of time and wanes everyone's interest. Just set a time, have a decent passworded server, and people will flock in to play.

I don't know if anyone suggested this, but why not a Skype server?
Granted the computers can run both GG2 and Skype at the same time. I can.
