If you tried the "test map" feature, it doesn't work. Sorry.

I think it works as long as you show GB where the GG2 file is

You can select which program to use for testing by pressing one of the F1-F12 buttons iirc

I don't know why people say "Test Map" doesn't work, I've never had any issues with it on either of my computers.

OK, here it is.
Press the F3 button. This will start the settings configuration process. It will ask you set stuff like the location of your paint editor (MSpaint, photoshop, ect.) and your compurter versionn.
The last thing it will ask you to do is to set the directory (folder) where GG2 is. Select the correct folder, select GG2.exe, and hit accept.

Now i'm just saying this, but if you are trying to test your map inside of GB by pressing the test map button, it will not work. There is a bug in the program that breaks this button.

Instead you should do this.
  • 1. Load your BG, WM, and sprites into the map.
  • 2. Finish placing everything and all of the sprites.
  • 3. If the background file was not added last, reload it back into the map (you won't need to unload it).
  • 4. Hit compile level data into PNG.
  • 5. Check your maps folder. If your map is not in the folder, find the BG you used and place it in the maps folder, for it has been embeded with the level data.
  • 6. In the gg2.ini file, make sure you have something like "sampleMapRotation.txt" in the variable space for "Map Rotation" under the [Server] section if you don't alread have a custom maps list.
  • 7. Add the map into your map rotation file, preferbably as the second map.
  • 8. Start GG2 and host a game. Don't announce to the loby.
  • 9. Test your map once it comes up in rotation, if it loads at all.
Hope this helps!!

no, christ, no
It asks for the directory. You select the directory that contains Gang Garrison 2.exe. The fact that people don't figure this out astounds me. This is why you people can't get the Test Map button to work. It works fine! You're configuring it wrong!

I think I've modded my improvement build to reference the actual EXE itself, because that way you can use mods and stuff on them
