I did some research on the scale2x algorithm, and it does take great liberty in attempting to smooth out rescaled pixels by creating additional corner pixels per center (or something like that). Afaik, nearest neighbor uses a uniform algorithm (grid) that duplicates the color next to it.

I don't really draw anymore, because it hurts my hands. I think it took me maybe 1 or 2 hours to draw that.
