This game has oh-so many possibilies that I might include Spud instead of Quote.
Rebel beat you to the punch in making the sprite:

...and then I beat you to the punch in making a half-finished MyChar.

Fun fact of the day: The Mimiga Mask inventory item doesn't actually do anything, the spritechange is triggered by a setflag when you talk to Momorin. As such, modders can take advantage of this flag to have two completely different player characters.

TSC coding is the nickname for script editing in Cave Story, named so because the script files use the extension .tsc. Every action is called by using a left caret and three letters, and certain commands use a string of four, eight or twelve numbers after it (i.e. NPC animations, tileset changes, etc).

For example, if I wanted to make a sign that read the famous Hello, world! I'd first create an entity with flag 0x2000 set (if a player stands in front if it and presses the down/Use key, the entity's event is run). Continuing the example, I could set the entity to run map event #0201 on activation, then in the map script file, I'd write:

#0201
<KEY<MSGHello, world!<NOD<END

<KEY locks player input and hides the HUD until the event is ended (<END).
<MSG brings up a message box at the bottom of the screen; the plaintext following it is what appears in the box. Text does not automatically wrap around, so one has to compensate- 34 characters max before overflow in Courier New, CS's default font.
<NOD waits for the player to press a key to continue the event.
<END ends the event.

Alternately, I could use <PRI instead of <KEY, which does pretty much the same thing but also freezes the game in the background.

It's really a lot simpler than it seems.

It probably would be if somebody explained coding to me IRL. I was able to understand how to hack my wii and my iPod by my self once somebody explained how to do so verbally. In text i dont understand anything...
