Rapid make/destroy sentry spam

People have been repeatedly making and destroying sentries in front of the medi-cabinet, in rapid succession.
It causes the game to seriously lag to an extent of unplayability.  :z3:

We may need some spam protection.

Badly compiled map. I'm pretty sure respawn room entities disable the creation of sentries.

Except, you know, people are doing it on official maps like Waterway and Dirtbowl.

Well, you could do something like my taunt limit/bubble limit, where you simply cannot taunt or bubble more than x times per life.

x could easily be a low number like 5 or 10, because you really can't built that many sentries per life, and it really isn't necessary to taunt 10 times in one life.

If anything... this would reduce it to lag spikes rather than continuous lag...
Then I'll just change the code so every step I change classes to some other class and back before making a sentry. As long as I'm in the spawn room I'll respawn instantly.

Also, the code that stops you from building in a spawn is client side. That's the whole problem.

As in make a code that stops this that is controled by the server not the client, so you couldn't make a mod to get around it.

For any action that can cause a lot of server lag, how about keeping a counter for each player that checks how many times they perform that action, and autodisconnecting if it happens abusively often within a certain time period (ie. well outside what could happen in normal gameplay)?  This and deto suicides come to mind.  The person setting up a server should be able to disable this if they want, for partying purposes.

That sounds dumb.

Taunting and detocides that are possible for a human to do should not be kicked

however, if it is beyone what a human can do i. e. 30 sentries created a second, then they should be kicked.
 
But in reality, stuff like this and bubble spamming doesn't cause that much lag...if anything it makes as much lag as two heavies shooting and pyros and such

Well. I had a system where people could only taunt 5~10 times per life, and would instantly die if they exceeded that limit, then after 3 times, they would be kicked.

This can simply be done with anything else.
I don't see what the point of kicking people for taunting is. It's a taunt, it's supposed to be annoying.

Do some of you guys still not get that griefing is only funny because you get upset about it? That one guy who spams z3 and tries to deto blast you out of the spawn makes it all worth while.
