Water and other elements.
« on: April 01, 2009, 02:33:03 pm »

I know there's a topic in the Feature requests, but I think I should have posted a reminder here.
Is it possible to create stuff like water that can be later used over a map in garrison builder?

I smell imbalance.

I thought that you get a 20 % speed nerf when you're in water, that would make Heavies underwater nearly unmovable.
Also why would a Pyro go underwater?

- Water gives you 20 % speed nerf
- When you're outside of the water you can't see what's going on in the body of liquid, though If you're inside it you can see both.
- Projectiles such as rockets and stickies travel 40 % slower.

Those are some pretty cool ideas. I vote yes.

Water?
Cue the drowning music from sonic the hedgehog...

I'm not opposed to the idea, but having people be hidden underwater is a bit much.
Maybe hidden if their underwater and behind an object.
Also, will you be able to jump higher?

I don't know, I'm just spouting stuff...

It seems as though the nerf from being in water is enough to discourage most people from entering. THough veterans like me will find away to use that to our advantage.

Well, I thought that water could possibly let weaker classes such as Medics and Scouts stand a chance against Heavies and (especially) Pyros:
Imagine hiding into the water and make a surprise attack on the Pyro, so you can damage him without being pwned by his flames.
I think Snipers will find water the worst possible enemy, since anyone can hide in here (especially spies, they can sneak from sewers without the fear of being set on fire) and they would just have to take some random shots at the water. On the other hand water makes rocketspamming impossible because of the speed nerf of rockkets and stickies.

If you think about it, spies are the worst players with few remarkable exceptions (Taimat and some others).
Also antispahcheckmeasures.
