File type: file?
« on: November 24, 2009, 11:37:31 am »

So I was making my first stage yesterday and I have the background done and wallmask done both as .png and the wall mask has a white pixel in lower left corner. So I go into garrison builder and load both get all my stuff placed, spawn points etc. I emb the files and save entities. Then I hit escape and says do you really wanna discard your changes which worries me already so i save again and click yes. I go to move the file into the maps folder and I hover my cursor over it and it says its file type is file not .png or .bmp just file. I still need to make the locator file for it but wtf do I do now?

Oh also when I am embing the two files in garrison builder my garrison builder goes black after about 14% then says  its not responding but when i try to emb them again its done. so i dont know if thats part of the problem.

If you press "Embed leveldata in PNG", then all important stuff gets saved into the background image.
<whatever you called it>.png IS the map then.

It's just poorly coded.

I'm going to try to load this up in GG and test it and figure out which .png file is the one I need because I have started over a few times now.

ok so I just tried to load it in the game and it won't do it. I followed that video's instructions on the map making thread, the video thats on the first page, I even paused and changed my gg2.ini settings to match and it won't let me run my stage.

Then it's not the map's fault, but rather there is something wrong with your rotation file.

so I deleted everything except the original 2 .png images went into garrison builder put in all necessary things. Embeded the files saved, and now I'm again stuck with the ctf_warehouse filetype: file. When you Embed the images isn't it supposed to end up as a .png?

Do NOT press "save entities", because this will create a file with no extension.

ok so this is strange. I finally have played on my map, its functional BUT when I grab the intelligence I have nowhere to score and when I was in GB I added the scoring places I think the little faint intelligence looking things with the blue and red handles but they done show up when I play it. other than that its done and really fast.

Don't use those fancy other intels, only place one red and one blue intel.
Those gray intels don't work.

Just like on any other map. You bring it to your own intel.
