I've redone the rules which I'm now calling guide lines because arts is freedom of expression man, and 'rules' doesn't have the free and expressible feeling like 'guide lines do', man.

And I made sure Rebel approved of my changes.

"Guidelines" also implies that you're impotent and all flaccid, all the time.

Generally, everyone here has some sort of easily recognizable style to their work, so passing someone else's stuff off as your own would be incredibly stupid.

what if a completely new person would come in here and pass off someone's work from another site? plagiarists aren't as stupid as you think.

Do a reverse image search for it?

Ask them to draw something and see if it matches?

Check if they're using Photobucket, and if so, check the account?

Morality is really low.

Unless you're trolling everyone, there's not much of a point to become the god of drawing in this kind of forum

If we ever do catch a plagiarist, we will try to contact the original artist, and probably ban the plagiarist on sight.

I'd like to bring up a complaint with RebelINS' moderating, starting with the following:
*DISCLAIMER* This is not an attack on RebelINS, or anything he may stand for. This is a criticism on his moderating technique.

1.
Criticism

-- If you choose to criticize a piece of art be sure to be constructive in doing so, 'You're art sucks/is awesome' doesn't count.

-- If you have nothing nice to say, give useful advice to the artist your criticizing so that he/she may improve, it helps with the constructive part of 'constructive criticism'
The criticisms given to Aptanor in the IRC were not following these guidelines at all. Granted, it was not in the art subforum, but I believe a moderator should follow his own word.
Quote from: from IRC
<RebelINS>: looks like ugly
<Aptanor>: Have anything to say besides "It's bad ololololol"?
<RebelINS>: no thats it
<RebelINS>: problem?
<Aptanor>: Well
<Aptanor>: That was rude.
<RebelINS>: yeah
<RebelINS>: for my eyes
<Aptanor>: Wow

2.
He just recently deleted a whole page of "drama." Sure it was drama and offtopic, but some of that was evidence and criticisms on his moderation. Where was the warning? There was a whole slew of unprofessional behavior in that thread.

3.
It's very unprofessional the way he talks down to everyone. Now yes, he likely is the best candidate for art mod, and does a decent job, but the condescending talk is very demeaning, and puts people off of the forums.

It's all pretty unprofessional how varied his moderation is. Certain threads are moderated heavily, with all spam and offtopic things crushed, where some threads are left untouched, even when there is a lot of dumb posts.
Example: http://www.ganggarrison.com/forums/index.php?topic=18781.0
Yeah, it's a little old, but Rebel warned the people twice about being offtopic, and did nothing to stop it. In fact, he added to it when he argued with Uberdeath. Now, this would be fine, but going back to Aptanor's thread, a page was deleted without any prior warning, or even a post saying "I deleted some offtopic stuff, that's your warning." Each thread posted here gets different treatment with his moderation, it seems.

4.
Taking things too personally. Now, after the whole Aptanor thing had passed, this was said in the IRC:
Quote
<RebelINS>: haha
<RebelINS>: why is aptanor a crybaby bitch?

This is extremely unprofessional. He is talking behind aptanor's back, about something that he didn't even give enough time to talk about. Adding insult to injury is the fact that this was in the public IRC, which many new players join to find out more about the game. This talk has nothing to do with Gang Garrison 2, and puts off a negative atmosphere.

I've taken the liberty of pm'ing this to Mr Fredman, MedO, Chris P. Bacon, Jebus_Chris, and cspotcode, in the event that something should happen to this post.

First of all, my moderation may seem inconsistent because I try to let the topic creator pull the reins of their own thread. If they're incapable of that, I will intervene.

1. I have no obligation to act professionally in IRC or even be treated as a professional. It's Aptanor's fault that he got offended by a one sentence dismissive claim. Everything that I say in IRC should be taken with a grain of salt, especially if its a stupid joke like "looks like ugly".

2. Criticisms of my moderation should go in this thread, not in other threads. The only point of Aptanor posting that IRC quote was to elicit drama; not exactly the best way to criticize moderation.

3. I don't see any argument in that thread. All I see is Uberdeath making a joke in poor taste and me retorting like any other member probably would have done. It spans a total of 3 posts.

4. I'll keep that in mind next time. If someone wants to take what I say personally, that's their decision.

There was a lot of offtopic conversation throughout the thread.

Arguments ending in one of the people winning barely ever happen in the real world.

It will surely not happen in a forum.

It was just an example.

Well, I guess that's good for the thread, but it was pretty inactive and old.

What I used that for was to prove a point. There is a stark contrast between that thread and Aptanor's, in terms of moderation.
