The damage is delayed. If they had 40 health, and you do 40+ damage to them, they'll die when the animation is done.

Okay, well maybe they should die before the animation is done? It only makes sense...

Okay, well maybe they should die before the animation is done? It only makes sense...
I'm not sure why this is either. From what I've seen, if their health hits 0 before their stab connects, it simply does no damage, and they die when they fully recloak.

This just happened to me on Dirtbowl. I managed to use a second stab to take two people with me when I had like 20 health. I should've died as soon as the knife came out, but I died once the animation ended.

And I die midstab. I've never had an instance that I was allowed to finish my stab before death, I always die upon losing my HP.

I haven't seen any spy survive just because they're stabbing.

Jammy's right. Spies can die during the stab animation; this is pretty much irrefutable. They can, in some instances, finish the stab and still die, but they are just as vulnerable as in any other time. Stabbing does not make them impervious.

I tested this by using the cloaked spy mod, standing out in the open, and jumping back and killing a spy when he went for the bait

He died mid-stab

I think it might only be certain servers this happens on. I've seen it most on Normal Maps.
