Inverted Walk-Masks
« on: October 01, 2009, 07:30:00 pm »

Hello gentlemen, I am Yogurt, fellow player of Gang Garrison 2 and future mapper, if the GB allows me.

Here is my problem:

I've made a map named ctf_aztec, I have the Background PNG and the walk-mask PNG.
Here are the steps I followed to make the map:
-I opened the Garrison Builder.
-I loaded the BG with my ctf_aztec.png, saving a copy of it first.
-I loaded the WM with my ctf_aztecWM.png, saving a copy as well.
-I added spawn points, respawn rooms, bullet-proof floors and walls, player-proof floors and walls, and two intels. (I added med cabinets too)
-I embeded the file (saved it manually), and then closed the builder.
-I opened my map with GG2, and I found out I wasn't able to move or fire.
-I read forums threads on the topic.
-And finally, I noticed that the GB inverted my wallmask! The white parts of the original file were now black and viceversa! I checked the GB as well and indeed, the walk-mask was inverted.

Can anyone lend me a hand to solve this buggy problem?
Thanks in advance.

1. Make sure that the lower left pixel is white
2. Just re-invert it

Did you put the tiny white pixel in the bottom-left-hand corner?

Sorry if this is obvious advise, unhelpfullness runs in my genes.

Silly me  xD

I didn't check the lower-left pixel! Thank you  :z5:

*To himself* I wonder why's that of the lower left pixel... *To himself*

in game maker, transparency (given that transparency is true for a given sprite, in this case, the wallmask) is always the color of the lowerleft most pixel. It cannot be moved to a different pixel, ever (unless something like that is being worked on for GM8)

You can always manually set transparency

Yes, but in actuality, it isn't worth modding a game just to work around one pixel

It's actually very easy.

Just change a c_white to a c_black.

Hell, doing that you could make water, hurtboxes, killboxes, spawns, teamdoors, and medcabinets.

:P Wow, When I invert it the lower white pixel is inverted to. (I fell dum now.) So Really the walk mask can be any color as long as the walls are any color other then the lower right pixel.

No, I think the walls always have to be black, but the air can be any color, however, better stick to B&W just to be safe

Any color but white is considered solid, and vise versa if you leave the bottle left pixel black
