[Request] Event Editing
« on: October 03, 2015, 11:39:48 pm »

If this is the wrong place, move as you see fit, but I considered this to be more of a plug possibility than feature. It could the that this is a GB edition to be, or FR may actually consider it, but I'm pretty sure posting in FR would result in a dead end, not saying GM/AOaP is better but it have more people read the idea

This might sound off, or have no possibility of working, however,
(the idea is explained everywhere(loosely?), read slowly)

Is it possible to have a plugin read or time events to happen in a map. An example would be,
Code: [Select]
      v-- I don't care what it's actually called, but it's the amount of time left on the map
      v        v--Seconds
if(roundTime=<10)
then(playSound="\Plugins\<PLUGNAME>\<MAPNAME>\<SOUNDNAME>.<FILETYPE>"
Or however it may happen, but there is also the question of having the plug check (read) for events like capturing Intel or a CP, and the last idea would be to start an animation in the map's code. An animation that has a specific name, no play speed, but a coded timed event would activate it and it start to change frames. (An extreme example would be an explosion in a building, debris flying, smoke rising as fire burns out the side)

A foreseen problem is not all maps/hosts/whatever have the same time. So the code would also need some math to have timed events line up/play at all if the host sets the time to be say 1 or 255 minute(s)

The reasoning for this request is to advance the widening base of map options and to evolve the map to being more or less, alive.
If confusion, then try looking at cp_dirtbowl+, an event could mean that if Blu wins defending, the rocket launches. If Red wins, it explodes
It could also mean that Entities could turn on/off or move, change. DeathRun could be a thing

EDIT: Second arrow down in the code was off, originally had it as a quote box

So in other words, trigger animations and moving entities?
