We've been working on this update for a few weeks now and I think it's ready to go. It can be downloaded from the front site or with the auto-updater.

The major changes are that we've given the Rocketman ammo, added an in-game menu, and added a bunch of features from the Community mod.

Here is the complete changelog:

- Options can now be accessed in-game (esc)
- Custom controls are now supported
- Kill cam is now togglable
- Rocket now has 4 shots and will automatically reload when not being fired; rocket hit does 25, splash does 30
- Rockets can pass through teammates but will lose damage and knockback when it happens
- Reflected rockets now reset all rocket timers (life, knockback falloff)
- Added medic radar
- Added healed by hud
- Added 10 step delay between autogun aquiring target and firing
- Burn damage increased from 0.5 to 0.6
- Medcabinets will remove afterburn
- Airburst extinguishes flames on teammates
- Medibeam extinguishes flames on teammates
- Shortened airblast collision slightly
- Fixed airburst collision detection
- Fixed bug where stabbing spy couldn't be moved around by splash damage/airburst
- Fixed not being able to view scores/change team while dead
- Fixed defending locked points bug
- Fixed spectating movement bug if you didn't have a player object
- You can now switch team/class with keyboard behind kill cam
- Hosting a game in dedicated mode automatically adds 1 to the max players, so there is a spot for the host but displays it as the max number set in the ini for the lobby.. so when hosting in dedicated mode it will show for example 0/12 instead of 1/13
- Added option to sync drawing with monitor's refresh rate - might help tearing
-Moved sticky counter to the right side of the screen

We're hoping that updates will become less far apart from now on, we are already preparing the next one, no guarantees about when it will be done, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

Guys... Do you realise I can't push as rocketman now? 5 damage doesn't compensate for significantly lowered dps overall.

rocketman is broken now

i agree with scumbag at least give him a shotgun or something to use when his ammo is out otherwise he's just a useless unwieldy piece of meat

or give all the other classes ammo limits

especially the detonator and the infiltrator

i am not going to play gg2 again until this is fixed rocketman was one of my three good classes and now he's shit

can't recreate this... what's happening?

Also, it's not like this is the FINAL BUILD guys.. rocketman can be tweaked.. we tweaked in beta testing and it seemed okay.. just give feedback in a constructive way instead of whining.. but move it to it's own thread please.

It's the best nerf yet, rocket fags were cluttering gg.

Besides, 4 rockets at a time and passing thru teammates is a plus.

But think of it, if they make replenishers for engis, they'll just camp by the intel until they run out and just get more ammo...

perhaps people can start a thread with thought out posts instead of bawwwing in the announcement thread.. again, I repeat, this isn't the final gg2 build.  Things can be tweaked but we need help from you to actually post real thoughts with arguments, not insults.

Even before this update, a healer healing a burning victim would never die from afterburn. The only situation in which afterburn would be used as the primary method of killing is in a hit & run...the other way is to hold the flamethrower on a victim, which causes contact damage.

I like the new update.  The Deto's blast radius seems smaller so its harder to pull off the 50hp damage hits but at the same time it makes Mine Jumping alot less costly.  It feels as if it now takes even more skill to use Deto which is what most people seemed to have wanted.  Either way I can still kill Quote or a Heavy/Medic combo just fine.

As for Rocketman, the slight extra damage and being able to shoot through people is a big plus in my opinion.  No more people getting in the way of your shots and no more annoying people with your badly aimed (or purposely aimed) shots.  In my opinion, the ammo limit is a fair trade for being able to hide behind an Overweight and still being able to kill people in front of him.

I'm probably going to get a couple of smites now for not agreeing with everyone.

I for one liked the blast radius of the deto's stickies as they used to be pre-update, from what little I played. Then again, most of the servers had lag and stuff (which effectively hamper a deto's offensive power) so maybe I'm just over-reacting. I'll see in a couple of days whether or not this is true.

After some experimentation with the rocketman, it turns out rocketjumping has less recoil to it, meaning it's possible to get good rocketjumps that only cost 5 HP. This is pretty awesome. As far as I'm concerned, the rocketman hasn't been made any less powerful and is actually even more enjoyable to use, because there's a lot more thought involved when it comes to battling with him. And as I said, rocketjumping.

I kind of agree with you, I always felt bad about using Rocketman at first cause he felt like such a cheap easy win character to use.  Because of that I ended switching over to Deto even tho I was pretty bad at it at first and I haven't really used Rocketman as much since.

To me, the new nerf was a very much needed thing to this game.

It's not even so much a nerf as it is a retinkering. Sure, you need to be careful so that you don't run out of missiles so soon, but with the ability to shoot through teammates and make less painful rocketjumps, it's entirely worth it. Rocketman's still pretty fuckin' powerful, it just requires a change in strategy on the player's behalf.

I'm so glad you went for reload without ammo. Soldier is not a class for pussys anymore.
I haven't played enough but he seems a bit too weak against detos, pyros, scouts and large enemy waves.
You should have given him the shotgun as a last resort weapon (it should work like the needlegun)

Being able to fire through teammates is cool. It's now easier to fight together with rocketmen and it's easier for rocketmen to fight with teammates.
The damage loss seems a bit small though (I don't know the numbers).

Being able to change options and names ingame is awesome.

Capping points is still slow as heck
Come on. This is just changing some numbers. Capping the middle point in egypt alone takes one minute.




I like the update :) it needs some tweaking but overall the game got more balanced

yeah i think so but i'm so pro any one "good" still sucks to me.

also your question kind of proves it's balanced.. if you're good with a class you're good with it.. if you're bad you're bad.  That's how it should be, it shouldn't be autowin for every class.  

Also not every class should be great against all classes.  It's supposed to be a team gang game.

I don't see anything wrong with it, other than the lack of skill it takes to get rid of a sentry, but that has been going on for a while now.

Rocket jumps seem higher, but that could look like it.

Pyro is more useful.

Medic is more effective.

If you hold back a shot for even a split second, he can reflect it back. Either hold M1 and waste your ammo, or have all of it reflected back. That and scouts dodging your shots, forcing you to  :z7: as you await death by scattergun.

You just have to take out the collision with character; basically take normal bullets, but make them straight.
