So, 2.4.3 has "plugin" support. You're thinking,
"ajeef, but how does plugin???"
No fear. I know how.
Plugins are small scripts you can place in your Plugins folder. They end in the extension .gml, for Game Maker Language. When you start GG2, these scripts are run, and they can add small features and changes to your game.
Installing a plugin is easy. If there is no download available, then usually there's just some code you'll need to copy and paste into a text file, and save with a .gml extension. To make sure it's saved with the .gml extension, put the filename in quotes, e.g. "plugin.gml"
If there is a download available, then if it's a zip file, just extract it to your plugins folder, and if it's a gml file, drop it into your plugins folder. There might be other files you'll need to put there too.
Finally, if you want to remove a plugin, or deactivate it, just move it out of the plugins folder, delete it, or rename it so it doesn't have the .gml extension. One suggestion from me is to make an "inactive" folder inside your Plugins folder, and move plugins you don't want to use in there.
Happy pluginloading :z6:

Oh, and for the people who have gg2 in the same directory as they used to keep GEM in:
If you open the Plugins folder and see lots of folders named "1", "23", "0", or similar; those are GEM plugins and can be safely ignored/deleted.
And yes someone asked me this already.

Oh haha. yes. Those are SMOKE plugins, the number is the plugin's ID.

Is it possible to mod a SMOKE plugin for compatibility with vanilla using notepad? I don't have GameMaker
Specifically, GEM's taunt menu and uber bubbles

You don't need Game Maker, but those plugins would need to be modified by someone to work with vanilla

So you guys actually set up whitelisting?

no

So you guys actually set up whitelisting?
That was for server downloaded plugins.
-
Oh, I thought that was being added as well, my mistake
-
Only download plugins here that you trust.
-
well yeah obviously, I didn't think whitelisting was necessary(although not a bad idea) for that anyway, what I meant was whitelisting for the server-downloaded plugins that I thought were in this update as well
hence my derpage
