Gentlemen,  the time has come.

I am very sorry to inform you that holding down your mouse button will probably not guarantee a victory as it used to.  I know it's terrible news, but we had some good time.  On the bright side, the constructor's overalls have been fixed!

Version 2.2 is now live.  Thanks to all the suggestions and help throughout the testing stage.

Let's see if we can remember what was changed:

Added Arena mode
Added Generator
Added player count, cap count, and server/map name on scoreboard
Added reload/overheat system for all classes except Rifleman
Added charging shots while scoped for Rifleman
Updated ctf_conflict
Reduced time needed to capture control points
Killboxes fixed to not credit last person to do damage with a kill
Fixed support for 1 control point traditional CP maps
Punish long name exploit with disconnect #513981 https://bugs.launchpad.net/gg2/+bug/513981
Fixed "earthquake tremors" bug #520748 https://bugs.launchpad.net/gg2/+bug/520748
Fixed infinite autogun at medcab bug #505764 https://bugs.launchpad.net/gg2/+bug/505764
Added overtime
Added +5 min to timer on control point capture
Fixed superburst bar not filling client side if it is full on server
Added options for blood/gib levels
Added optional HUD to show who you are healing
Added option to display your own health bar over your character's head
Fixed Rifleman not able to shoot through a setup gate after round start bug #505431 https://bugs.launchpad.net/gg2/+bug/505431
Superburst graphic effect now shows when stabbing
Players now get full ammo and ammo does not deplete while supered
Fixed manvich exploit
Fixed getting credit for capturing a point when on a different point
Fixed speech bubbles displaying for invisible infiltrators

Fixed Rifleman's collision mask
Fixed Constructor's overalls!

Leiche has updated Garrison Builder.  I'm not sure if he's publicly announced that yet.

Since the other thread got locked ( >:[ ) and I don't think anything changed in this build except that it's public:

The engie got 6 shots in tf2. I think he should get 50% more in gg2, which means 9 shots (or 10 if you want to round up).

reload should be shorter too.

2,5 seconds (medic) is enough time to kill you twice. Not to mention that the medic can only kill 5/10 if he lands all his shots. Three of the other classes can't even be killed without reload. That means you need at least 7,5 seconds to kill a Quote.

I dislike this whole ammo stuff since GG2 is just too fast paced compared to TF2 so there isn't really a place for reloading. Especially not over 2 seconds in the middle of a 1 on 1. Or even more.
And Medic is not the only class with really broken ammo, it's just the worst case. Sure a Medic shouldn't go around and rambo all the time, but taking away his only way to defend himself is somewhat of a cunt move.

all this hoo hah about reload being too long only applies if the one player wastes his entire clip without killing anything. Just reserve some bullets so the opponent can't take advantage of reload time. Chances are most opponents are more wary of players who either aren't shooting (yet do not know if they have been; imperfect knowledge of current clip, etc), or players who shoot in a slower rhythm. This is how I win runner battles.

Right now players seem to be... perplexed by the fact that there is ammo for EVERY class.  I've seen some pyros just running around not knowing what the hell overheat was, and I've been seeing many snipers jumping... and having no hops.  Also, I have seen a lot more autogun camping in the ctf gametypes, and in every gametype there are like 3 rocketmen per team because that is the ONLY class that wasn't change AT ALL.

I had a lot of caps.

If my evidence is pertinent:
- Unparalleled team support. Even more important with the points below
- Healer is one of the only classes to have a weapon with no ammo prerequisite (medigun, Rifleman)
- With the slower pace, damage potential of each class is either a sprint-full stop (spam until empty), or a slower run (slower rhythm to preserve ammo). Healer deals with both of these with his 30 hp/s heal for constant damage, and 60 hp/s for allies below 50%. Therefore, theoretical dps of each class is lower, and since the healer didn't get any change, his healing is only improved.
- His superburst is ridiculously good, instantly refreshing ammunition and lending infinite amounts for recipients. This is a gigantic buff. Healers can easily switch uber targets to refresh ammo, which is insane for rocketmen, quote/curlys, runners, etc.

Pretty much the healer got mad buffed through his superburst, and everyone else getting a nerf with ammo.

All good points and changes will come to the healer.  We had to either update now, or keep adding/changing and never update.  Plus I wanted an update in time for April 1.

That's okay because I just realized I made a mistake.  The server and the client will both need to have the same system date for it to show up for clients.

This will hopefully be solved soon.  We need to contact AV companies and get them to resolve this.  Even building the gm8 tutorial brings a false positive for a virus.

In the meantime if AVG lets you set a folder as safe (do not check) try that out.  I assure you there's no malicious code in the gg2 source.

Just re-download gg2 from the homepage, the updater doesn't work for certain computers (mostly Vista people).

I've redownloaded it, now it's telling me that it's infected with a trojan, after I added it to the exclude list on AVG...
It's a false positive try re-adding it to the exclude list since, it does download a new exe

The false positive thing is happening all over the GM community right now, currently at least A-Squared, AVG, Ikarus and VBA32 report GG2 (and probably a lot of other GM8 games) as infected. Kaspersky initially had the same problem but we already contacted them and they fixed it within a day. Unfortunately I can't find a way to send a report to AVG without being a customer, so could someone (or everyone) of you with AVG do it?

Edit: Kaspersky only fixed the problem for GM8, the old GM7 Gang Garrison is still reported as infected. Since we're switching to GM8 anyway I'd say it's not a big problem, but if it annoys you just contact them yourself.

The only thing i dont like in this update is the infiltrator: Where is the cancel the cloack before capture the intel? Why now he can backstab in the air? And why now he can stab while is taking damage?

I have noticed the pace has severely died down, though not with heavys quotes or pyros.

I know I'm probably going to be told otherwise but I don't really like the reload/overheat system :z3:. It's just that this game is veeery fast paced and if your stuck reloading your kinda screwed =/. Especially if your a kamikaze runner or firebug, which is natural, when you have to wait for your gun to reload your just like oh boy... And besides, if your whining that "That overweight camping the intelligence!" Well, you should change your tactics and and go full assault(which is kinda hard since you can't talk :z8:). Also, it's partially the maps fault. Maps like truefort only have one way for spies and one way for runners, making it pretty hard to slip in, but, if you made a map with more entries, everyone's happy! But Spy, you ask, what if the heavy is camping the spawn and there's only one way out? Well, again, that's why people make newer versions of the map like dirtbowl. I just don't get why people want to reload in this game, what, to be like TF2? I don't like GG2 because it's TF2 with 2d aspects, I like it because it's GG2. And stop asking for more weapons for god's sake, GG2 runner with a bat would not be as fun as you think, and what would be the point of adding a shotgun to the overweight's arsenal :z8:? Even if this doesn't go through, I can still survive, but it just feels less like GG2 :z7: and I don't want that to happen. And what's with the sniper going slower when zoomed and having charged shots!?! That just makes scouting ahead with your scope annoying, and it's going to be hard to dodge that other sniper with that pathetic jump. Man, I sure hope this rant affects some people =/.

I think the ammo overheat system is a good idea but it should mostly be aimed at 3 specific classes: rocketman, firebug and overweight, since they're the most prone to be abused for hold-M1-for-5-minutes chokeholding. If for some reason it ever prevents you from being able to attack foes during normal combat, then it's not really contributing to the game, so I would say it needs some tweaking. I probably should have just quoted Agh's post regarding longer overheat times and been like "QFT", but typing a full paragraph was too tempting.

I'm having a lot of trouble dealing with rockets since the patch, because even with "regular" lag they become invisible all the time now rather than just lagging behind where they really are. Oh and Scootrushes are more effective than ever.

Maybe not noclip exactly, but I was playing a game a while ago and my entire team couldn't spawn automatically. So I spawn myself manually and I assume my team does too. We're clipping through everything and there's no gravity of any kind. I can move through walls but cannot shoot. The enemy can move through walls AND shoot. Wow, that's fair. And really fun, too!

Problem with all these new servers is it's hard to find a good one now.

I think that You would want the current recharge rate for detos should be upped to two stickies reloading instead of one.

So the point not being cappable problem is a much bigger issue when there is overtime. Normal grav was stuck on arena_Montane for several minutes due to a broken point until I told nagn to change it.

Anyone can see when something is overpowered.

We have to literally rip the game apart and find all sorts of bugs so it'll be good for public release.

I have been here for more then a year now. (this is my second account)

I have played Gang Garrison frequently since 2.0 was released. I have played Team Fortress 2 for a long time, and I very well understand the game that you and the developers are de-making.

I understand what would fit the game and what would not.
I understand what would be too powerfull and what would not be powerfull enough.
I understand that feedback is crucial and I would be more then willing to give feed back to the makers of the various betas and builds.

I think i would make an over all great Beta Tester.

That happens when you don't have the gg2updater in the same directory as the game, we should do a file_exists test to prevent that.

Bugs don't come before balance, because when you balance the game with new features, you get bugs :drool:

Actually last I checked, we're not meant for balancing the games, we just report bugs, that's what feature requests are for, and the Beta Testing board isn't a secret feature requests board.

It's not a normal bubble, all that is sent to the server/clients is the image index. The bassieface is a standalone sprite. Even if you were to be able to use it, no one other than yourself will be able to see it.

We really need the constructor to be something other than just a secondary base builder or area controller. Maybe both?
Secondary base

How the hell can an Autogun create a secondary base, it gets the mechanical shit raped out of it by any halfway decent class. It's only good when you can't fire on it without exposing yourself, and even then a good rifle or rocketman can take it out to say nothing of a non-useless deto.

I think each class needs only 1 weapon, but having a disguise kit and a sapper would be really cool for the Spy.
