Let's hope steam doesn't have the compulsive super sale.

Steam might end up doing something like that if they're smart, but they don't really support that thing at valve.

If you really think about it, I don't really think that any of the 4000 submitted items to their workshop were created with any legally bought program. A lot of their publicity comes from people using downloaded video editing programs and picture editing tools that would normally be sold for a bit over the hundreds of dollars. They'll lose a LOT of viral marketing.

I don't think this will have any major impact, but even if it does, won't the content IP owners just blame piracy and turn it into an argument for these measures?

IMO it will just piss them off heavily, but seeing as we're their consumers either they'll have to declare forfeit on the bill or they'll at least endure some hard times because of it.

Even if it works it's just going to give them enormous 2nd quarter profits because all the sales are just going to get shifted ahead a quarter. It's not like multi-billion dollar corporations can't hold over until April by which point they probably won't remember this.

What I really can't understand is why anonymous thought of hitting government websites that no one bothers using anyhow
They're not stopping the government and if anything they should've hit commercial websites or something actually useful

@NAGN: still there's no real reason to block websites that are barely ever visited

it's not really about causing financial distress, it's just about saying hey we don't like you

It's still a pretty stupid move, because the only thing it does is push Anonymous's reputation more and more towards a shady one, which is not what you want when doing politics.

And if this is supposed to be blackmail, it's going to fail so hard.
