Here's a separate idea for actually getting the hang of Python: Last Mirage, a Final Fantasy demake. I can say "Pixels EVERYWHERE" for this or "ASCII EVERYWHERE!". Which would be better for me to say? Idea: Gradius remake with a way to create ships, weapons, enemies, stages and bosses. See: Tyrian Yeah, but Tyrian only had weapon and ship creation, and even that was a 3rd party program. Also, Tyrian no longer works as it should and DOSBox makes it too slow. See: OpenTyrian. Got a C++ compiler? Zing! You're done. You can use that to make a shmup of your own. That's if you're not looking for a specific program to make shmups. Silly goose, there's no such thing as an easy way to make games. Game Maker Ah, but Game Maker, to take advantage of its features, require GML knowledge. NOT EASY, from my experiences. GML is pretty damn easy. And even then you can use drag and drop, though the drag and drop thing is more complicated imo. True...but you get more power with Python!

If so, I can't cope with it. I tried using TGF2 and MMF2 once, but their pre-defined characters movement is faulty (Platform: if you hold a direction while jumping against a wall, you'll latch onto it. 8 direction: it automaticaly moves down if you hold left and right. Car: VERY bad collision mechanics and the speed doesn't drop if you let go of the gas.

Random Acts of Violins, a game about a concert Violinist who's audience is kidnapped by extraterrestrials during his concert, and he's forced to rescue them with the only weapons he has available, the plethora of instruments in the concert hall.

Does he play the instruments to kill the aliens, or does he just smash them?
