I made some new stuff for the HUD to be implemented whenever someone gets around to it.

First, I made a new score panel that matches the style of the game more.


Then I went and put together the required images to implement visual intel notifications.
The Backgrounds:
         

And the notifiers:
At Rest:
Dropped:
Picked Up:


They can be resized as needed, and placed anywhere on the screen that is deemed pretty, perhaps in the lower left corner, or perhaps we should just have the notifiers with the score... I dunno it will probably involve some experimentation.
I'm totally open if there is any criticism, and I can definitely go and change things, but I'm pretty happy with them. So implementers, when you feel like implementing them, they are here waiting for you.

The score panel doesn't end the same way on the left than on the right?

Otherwise, do we really need to pixelate everything in the game?  Grin

I still like it, and I like that you provided the icons for the intel status, though you mixed them up.

The Arrow is when the intel is down, on the ground.

The "!" is when its picked up.

It makes sense when you think about it.

Don't want to burst any bubble, but that indeed looks hella nicer, and true to the original. I'd definitively put that in...

EDIT: On a 6x zoom it might be too big, though. A 4x zoom in game would be perfect. The one we have are already oversized, we don't need them that big, do we?

I agree, thats quite good, clearly more effort was put into it than mine. My one criticism is that it looks like the edges of the background (the part up top) might be a bit thin, maybe just a 1-pixel thick black outline around the whole thing and its perfect.

It's good, but it won't fit when you're playing in a 8-bit setting with 8-bit characters.
