I think PC Gamer covered TIGSource's Bootleg Demake competition a really long time ago
They provided a download link for b1 iirc, and I played it alone and sad
Then I realized that there was a newer version that people played

Tigsource Demake competition.

I still think this deserved first place.
Who did win?
http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2865.0
Soundless Mountain II, some silent hill demake.

imo, GG2 was the best overall, but S.T.A.C.K.E.R. was the most original and my personal favourite.

S.T.A.C.K.E.R. was really cool, because it was a Tetris Clone with great atmosphere, who would think that's possible?

edit:
gg2 in it's early stages was a buggy, unbalanced, laggy mess. We can be happy it even got second place Cheesy

Found out about it while browsing HHH's videos. At the time, I was desperate to play TF2, or something like it. When I found the videos, I did some research, started playing. Loved it instantly. I then started looking at old S&T Guides for Pyro, Scout, and Engineer. Joined the forums. The rest is history.

Found out about gg2 from a friend's laptop (don't know his name) who forgot to lock his doors at night.  While I was over at his house visiting I also borrowed his car keys (with car), his wallet, and bike.  He moved like two weeks later... I think he was feeling home sick since he was only living in the neighborhood for two weeks.  I never really got a chance to help him help him with his paranoia problem.

Oh, and this may go a bit off topic, but how did Soundless Hill 2 ever win? The character's movements are so slow, the game doesn't get any good until mid-late game, sound effects aren't the greatest, and oh dear sweet Jesus Christ the background was the worst part of the game. (I can only guess there were more people who enjoyed SH2 who voted?)

I originally came over here from the General Silliness board on All is Brawl. One of our members, Wherewolf, was a mod here and an amazing sniper. (Probably one of the best to ever play.) Wherewolf wanted to create a General Silliness GG2 group, which would later be known as ]GS[. I, along with many other members of General Silliness, thought it was a great idea. Although some of the people fron GS were great, (eg. Protoman/Dave Strider, Airman, etc...) none of them stuck with the game long, not even Wherewolf. I'm probably the only member of General Silliness left here.

I miss those days. There were so many great players who were always active.

Found out last summer when I was looking for remixes of TF2 music, so I ran into your remixes and thought: Hmm... This game might actually be fun.
