2) If the infiltrator is passively (but not actively) invisible, his sprite will assume a "sneaky position". This seems like it would take more effort to make a good looking sprite that clearly communicates the infiltrator is sneaking, but it would be pretty cute and would keep the hud minimal.
This is my favorite option, surely I'm not the only one that feels this way?

>Add tips showing up during waiting for respawn
>Add that spies have passive invisibility as a tip
>Add that depending on your knife all the time is full on derp as a tip

problem solved

You do realize that it takes five seconds to respawn, and the entire time you're doing so you'll have to look at the killcam.

Also, I like the sprite idea.

We shouldn't have to implemet a tip system as a substitute for making mechanics more obvious in the first place.

The sneaking sprite idea would be a good way to give teamates an idea of what's going on. But it also seems like the most effort art-wise and I'm a tad skeptical untill I see some sprites.

maybe we should also include an "aftereffect" effect upon turning your back onto a spy? (basically the animation/position freezes before fading out once you turn your back)
This would be interesting. I think all these little changes will make gg2 look visually more appealing every update.

If you want to test the detection concept for yourself, I made a plugin that displays over enemy players whether you are currently passively invisible to them.

The plugin
