Come on bro, it's not that hard

Just stay on the treads and shoot at the things, at some point you'll shoot so much shit at his own shot shit that all the shot shit will shit all over the screen and you're basically healing and hurting yourself every second

No but really it's not extremely hard, try beating him again

I discovered cave story through gg2, played and beat the game.

One of the few games I'd take with me everywhere, it is absolutely fantastic.

In all honesty, I wish not only there was more of it, but also that had a steeper but more regular difficulty curve, because I ended up beating the crap out of 90% of the game without many problems until I got to the very end of it

I had no problems until Monster X (the orange monster Lorgan is having trouble with), but then it got hard.

I got stuck at the battle with the boss you're talking about.

Get the blade on level three, and the polar star too for backup.
Once the engine starts, make it your absolute priority to kill every other living thing. If you can make before the boss starts shooting for the first time, you're good.
Go on the treads, and be careful to switch every so often so that you aren't too close to an edge (this gives you breathing room in emergencies).
Then, once he stops, go between the treads and start abusing that Blade. Ignore the things that shoot out. The blade will decimate them, and the few that'll get through will deal pitiful damage. You'll get so much powerups, any damage under 10 will heal pretty quickly.
Repeat, and just don't get under the treads, they hurt.

Once you destroy all four of those thingys, the hard part starts. Basically you do the same thing as before, but now the projectiles are these strange fish-shaped things that make lots of curves and that follow you. They are really annoying. Take care of your health here. If your blade ever gets down to level 1, use the polar star/machine gun.

Then you're done.

I don't understand why you people have so much trouble with the guy, it didn't get hard for me until Doctor's second phase because you had to take a literal endurance run through four of them

Idk about other people, but I start having problems with mobile small enemies in large numbers. This mostly means Monster X's 2nd stage rockets, the doctor's bats, stuff like that.

« Reply #29 on: May 21, 2012, 02:33:39 pm »

I played CS before I found GG2. But I didn't get motivated to do a 3hp run of CS until half a year after finding GG2.

Core and Undead Core gave me the most trouble, then the rest was smooth sailing because it was all patterns. The only reason those 2 gave me trouble was because there were multiple things with their own distinct patterns to worry about, so it got hectic pretty fast.
