Oh, and I count about 49 possible inputs on a keyboard/mouse + scroll (sans f1-f12 keys) wheel combo. we're using about... 10 of them. So we have 39 other inputs to use for activating a different attack, if we don't make it a two key combo. People are so against any form of alternate weapon that they try to squeeze it into the controls we currently have. this is what caused the flare to be a m1/m2 combo, rather than an alternate attack as it should be. if we add another input, then maybe we could push the flare to it, maybe we could add demoman pipebombs, and maybe we could settle this multistab idea.

yes let's have two different instant kill attacks with different controls that are both exceptions to the existing standards
the flare was something that we dealt with being unintuitive because we felt like we NEEDED it, same with charging, same with bubbles
we do NOT need a sweep stab, it's an overbearing solution to a small problem that can be solved in other less rude ways.

It's like you aren't even reading what I'm saying. i've been advocating a stab, that rather than killing, does damage (a value as of yet to be determined). it would encourage an element of teamwork and keep the spy's ability to do 'percision' work

It's like YOU'RE not reading what I'M saying. I'm talking about the original sweep stab that kills up to two people, not the thing that you randomly started applying that name to as soon as the idea came up. I am SPECIFICALLY talking about an INSTANT KILL ATTACK and you are assuming that I am talking about YOURS.

Then why not have both if they are seperate ideas? And I've been calling it the sweepstab since that has so far been the only idea for the animation of it.

spy stab animation starts with m1, press m1 again mid stab and second or replacement, sweeping stab will be done
sweep can be done in unlimited succession, but it pretty slow and likely to get spy killed without him doing shit to help his team.  sweep does reduced damage, but hits everybody in hitbox.

stabbing is already hilariously risk prone
you don't have to punish someone for taking more of a risk, just give them additional kills per how risky it is

It's not a punishment unless the spy makes it one?
They could stop the cycle whenever they want, I was just thinking of a way to deal quick aoe damage from behind an enemy group.  Could be really useful in something like koth if the enemies are all facing one way.

I concure. Giving the Spy another instant kill attack will just make im seem more like a seperate class rather than a team support class.

Spy needs a less risky form of stab, not a more risky one. You guys are just adding random stuff for no reason.

It's not like this is even a fun mechanic or anything, you're just sitting there for 5 seconds and you don't even get the satisfaction of a kill.

It (read: the damaging version, not the killing one) is a team based mechanic. it's supposed to set up your team to push through a chokepoint, or onto a cp, or any other situation where people stand together.
