It's funny, I thought to go for Shizune as my first because I wanted to do all routes as they chronologically appeared and ended up with Rin.
I guess it's the "first girl syndrome", you play this game without a clear idea of what to expect and the first woman you play for takes all the cake.

Pretty much. After playing Emi's route, that became what I expected out of the story, and anything different seems off to me. Although, Rin's path is off no mater how you look at it...

Dunno man, feels more like a subjective thing imo.

I'm not saying you didn't look too deeply into it, I'm just saying that we took different approaches at the stories and were also opinionated by the first route in a different way.

I really liked her speech on how gaming should be a balance between luck and skill. I find it hard to agree with her about how chess is boring because it all boils down to a method or a formula at high levels. But I think she would say the exact same thing to competitive players in TF2 and how it should be just purely skill. She would also say the same thing about fighting games especially to Brawl fgts. Come on guys, Super Smash Bros. was always a party game, you are just deluding yourselves. Just play Street Fighter already.

Anyways, I do find myself at least agreeing that competitive games do not always have to be purely skill based to be legitimate.

A "sort of" would have sufficed

Yeah, I like Shizune because she is logical and rational. She has the type of personality that I would love to sit down and talk with (heh), but as a relationship not so much.

I'm Doku "Wall of Text" Rider. "Sort of" never suffices.
