The roster idea is almost the same thing as the 1 clan rule and the 8 member limit. Here is my reasoning most clans war other clans, but then whats the point of being a member of the clan, but not on the roster? The player can join as many clans as he wants, but in reality he is only in one clan. And as for the member limit the clan can have as many members as it wants, but again in reality it only has 8. I think rosters should be only designed for tournaments. Just saying, this rule is no different from the 1 clan rule and the 8 member limit. It is just looked better and sounds more pleasing, but it still is the same thing.

You're forgetting that you can play for the clan the next month, which means you aren't restricted to one clan

Also, those 8 are just for ranked matches and tournaments. The clan can still war other clans with non roster members/members from the roster+ non roster members, but it just won't be ranked

Exactly craz, it is basically the one clan rule only nicer. Clan leaders didn't want to cut their friends even if they didn't even play (nothing wrong with that), so now they don't. You can keep everyone, you just choose the active ones to play in serious matches.

Plus you can still use clan members not on the roster as the 1 sub allowed in ranked games.

But it wouldn't be a serious war if it wasn't ranked. More like a scrimmage. Also being able to switch off every month doesn't sound to bad, but the rule still sucks.

all the clans that wish to be competitive.

if you don't want to be apart of the competitive scene of gg2, then you don't have to submit a roster.

there's no difference between competitive and general

if you plan on warring at all you should submit a roster, that way no one can steal the players you want to use in wars.

(although if you don't war enough they could choose to leave)

I think this explained it best for me.
There are no downsides to not having a roster except not being able to be ranked/not being able to enter tourneys
There are no upsides to having a roster except for being able to be ranked/being able to enter tourneys
