I'd like to point out this discussion would not have actually occured if some people didn't come into the thread with the intent on criticizing a community that they know very little about.

Okay time to discuss this hoof beast that appears to be in a Hoof Beast Bear Bog much like my description dictates. Whether it will attack or not depends entirely on it's nature as a Hoof Beast

I was about to write a really longwinded post about how this discussion might actually change some opinions, and declaring it closed with the threat of a tempban just makes me buttfrustrated, but I scrolled down, saw fluttershy, and then just saved the entire post to my clipboard via the CTRL + X shortcut.
You know what? Let's have some love and tolerance up here.

So I don't choose to understand your fandom for a minute but I can at least understand the members of this forum.
Why do you guys like this show? (easy modo: not the animation)(hard mode: not things the fandom creates)

I have never associated eating a male reproductive organ with a child's cartoon If that's what you really like about this show, okay I still don't want anything to do with it, though

the shy guy walkcycle from yoshi's island is far superior, as their feet rotate around their body, creating an adorable waddle step
therefore, no

Because my weaboo synapses misfired when burglars broke into my house, put a gun to my head and made me watch this show against my will and now I think this was made in Japan.
Still looking for superior nippon subs over this shitty americunt dub that fucks all the voices up.

The thing is, people are into this for very different reasons, so trying to understand "the fandom" as a whole is difficult at best. Easy mode: I do
fan creations. Hard mode: Why I like the show is a bit more difficult. I like how well developed and distinctive the characters are. The musical numbers and even the background music are often very well done and surprisingly complex. The show is often self-conscious and sometimes uses subverted tropes to good effect (e.g. the beginning of
, up to the start of the intro). The cute style is off-putting for many people, but once you get used to it and realize that the aversion against cuteness is just a silly cultural inhibition (for many people, at least), the cuteness can actually become a bit addictive.

It's also a refreshing (albeit brief) breath of fresh air to find a group of people that don't spend all of their time being hateful, or parroting obligatory definitions of masculinity that have absolutely no base in civilized society.
