I swear you can totally do it, it's basically a "rough play" animation that happens in rare circumstances when you're very near to the enemy.
You can also make the referee faint and he won't be able to call your fouls for a while. This game is that awesome.

Well, let's just say Neo Geo Cup 98 is the least realistic soccer game you can play. Which is good because it's also the most fun, as you can imagine. The rules are cut to the extremely simple "there's people of a different colored jersey and they have a huge net, take that ball and do whatever you can to throw that ball into it (but don't harm them too much - actually harm them as much as you can without getting caught) and protect your own at all costs".
It's more of like dodgeball with less dodges and balls and more pain.
