It's possibly because he's never bothered picking it up again and again and again like we useless bastards and had played it only when it was time to make a comparison with another game
Explains why he's always rambling about how many weapons get added "every week" and how "Valve was wrong for letting the player get the hats".

well back when it was basic, the game was so well balanced
now there's way too much overlap between classes I mean holy shit what valve dong
I'm pretty sure he's seen hanz play tf2, and judging by the legitimately stupidlike items they've added, it's perfectly acceptable to be drawn away

yeah I didn't play until late 2009 with a little bit of valve weapons, but not the extreme amount we have today, you know every character with only one or two alts? |

I can safely say that you cannot create a class based shooter without it being unbalanced and Valve did a spectacular job not fucking it up despite of how much backhanded and immature its community and fans are in giving feedback. This at least up until the Scout update, when they simply decided that everything their customer said is WORD OF GOD and therefore they're not worthy of thinking with their own heads anymore, so they tried the master-slave approach till they decided to leave to ten people and a couple of fashion designers the lead of the game.

TF2 isn't a perfect game that isn't perfectly balanced, but when you find the right people and the right environment it's a riot.
