There are things called "texture packs" that can change the look of mc.
Not too tough to install either.
Made by community. Doesn't change that fact that it is ugly. And still blocky and without actual art style.
Know what, I'll be honest, Minecraft, even with all the mods, without looking at graphics or combat, is still a huge waste of time.
It gives you false impression of doing something productive, while in fact, no one will ever look at your work and say that this is best thing he's ever seen, or something.
It won't last forever, or earn you a place in history. Not even game's history.
There's nothing to compare this to, really. Not even building shit with Lego blocks, since those constructions can be glued and saved for eternity. Or even sold, if you're lucky. You can't compare it to making maps either, since maps expand on games' content, replay value, etc. And again, it can earn you money, like mapping for tf2, for example. Beating the game isn't too fun either. Most games tell you story, like books or movies, or test your reflexes, or give you thrills and adrenaline boost, which men have always had when hunting or fighting for their lives. Minecraft doesn't serve any purpose in your life. Face it, there are so many other things you could do, or games you could play, each being somewhat productive, for others or for you. But if you want to keep being lazy, unproductive loser in your life, yeah, keep playing it.
And to be honest, I don't really think that Notch is doing a bad thing by selling this game for such high price, as well as tickets to Minecon. It's what happens in nature - more creative, stronger (or stronger in mind) entities kill, or use weaker ones to survive. And by natural selection, weaker ones die alone, while stronger ones reproduct (and yes, Notch will, women want money and influence, not looks) and their good genes live on.
Yeah, I guess there are lots of errors in this post, but it's late, so forgive me that.
