movement speed affects bullets half as much as before

Oh wow.

Good thing I don't play this game anymore, because I still recall b46 where you could outrun your own bullets. It's hilarious how you guys always go with the worst option for nerfing classes. (See: deto, sniper, quote and to a lesser, probably just personal preference, firebug)

Well I guess I will go look for myself how well it works instead of condemning it a failure before even testing it. *0.5 doesn't seem to hard to add.

If it messes with aiming, then taimat told me that it should be a thing where they decay faster if they move faster than normal instead of having different speed.

Basing it on distance seems dumb to me because it still allows a runner to spam down a hallway if they're running with their bullets, but doesn't let them attack from afar.

This could actually be useful in the Runner's case, because currently if he gets knocked back while shooting his bullets basically sit in place.

I am not quite sure what you mean...

An alternate way to the current *0.5 on movement speed to the bullets would be to make faster bullets decay faster? So we keep it like 2.2, but momentum shots decay, for example, after 2 seconds while non momentum shots decay after 3 seconds?

Doesn't sound to bad imo, but isn't that the same as capping the max range the bullet can travel? Well except that shooting behind you will make the bullets live longer than normal.

I don't quite get your reasoning behind that. It's just the other way around. You can still shoot a little over the screen (if that's the max distance, durr), but the main concern most people have is that you can currently shoot like 2 screens infront of you while simply holding A/D+M1. I don't see how that's supposed to be possible if your bullets only fly 450 (or something like that) px, therefore hitting people who you can't see is almost impossible, except if they walk towards you, but that can happen with any class and it's worse to walk into a pyro then into one scattergun shot.



Also I tested it with the lesser movement impact on the bullets:

+ Bullets don't travel as far with momentum shots
+ Backwards shots fly farther and don't just fall down
(+) Normal shots aren't affected

+/- Momentum shots travel roughly between 7/8 and 3/4 of the whole screen (or to be exact: the tunnel above the spawn in truefort.)

-- Bullets seem to spread more with momentum shots.
(-) Feels really unnatural to me. Subjektive??

1. 2.3 needs vindi's console. All of it.

2. 2.3 needs plugin support.

3. vindi needs to make a chat plugin or whatever that he was talking about.

No classlimits will suck balls, if they devs don't at least add that I'd probably just stick to comp play. I just can't go back to 5 rmans per team. No kick feature will suck balls, no map change will suck balls, no chat will suck balls.

If the above 3 things don't happen (especially first), comp play would probably have to rely on mods to run, and with vindi not continuing vinmod I don't know who would want to make one.

Or we could just have someone update vinmod and we can all go back to nobody playing vanilla. A bit of a kick in the face to the people who worked on 2.3 I guess, but better than having so little control over servers.

Hopefully they don't fuck up balance changes (is q/c seriously running on a clip based ammo system? wtf), and if they don't I'm looking forward to seeing the differences.

1) The scout bullet decay being based on speed would be based on the player's own speed at the time they fired the bullets, and would only come into play if they are moving /with/ their shot. And, that's only if 1/2 speed relativity doesn't work. If neither work then we'll figure something else out. We're not going to implement something broken.
2) I have no idea what's going to happen for server stuff. I think that a console is a good idea etc but I am just a lowly dev in training.
3) I fixed quote. No, it's not a clip anymore.

We "need" the chat plugin for organizing stuff and that's about it. IRC could be substituted for it in such a case.
