Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion totally could be an FPS. At least, in my opinion.
It's an RPG

In Spyro at least there are parts where you have to manually aim like from a third/first person shooter thingamajic. Also there's fucking dragon hockey, I dare you to put that in a fps.

I see FPS as more of a perspective.

well if there's platforming then no it won't, that's similar to calling zelda a first person shooter, from the bow aiming mechanic, which it would be if it weren't for the perspective
and then there's fallout, what the fuck do you call that

A GPS or Glitch Person Shooter
There's probably more videos of them than of people using Let the bodies hit the floor on frag videos at this point.

It kind of could but only if you go archer and they suck horribly in that.

My first FPS was Marathon for the Mac.
Second was probably Dark Forces, an old Starwars game.

Both of these are playable as DooM WADs.

Hmm, might try working on my archer to be more than just a pot farmer.
What a coincidence, I was working with Archer to make him more than just a pot farmer.

A rule of thumb I've discovered in my incessant viewing of forums is that if someone claims that a game is perfectly balance he's probably using the cheapest set of actions and/or doing extremely well.
Can't judge your statement though.
