I think that this forum needs a "Contribution" sub-forum. I feel that, in order to speed up updates and increase activity, the community needs a forum to post anything they have added or changed (codewise) to increase efficiancy in the game. This includes changing code to make the game faster and less buggy. It also allows people to arrange testing time and surveys. Then any contributions that are worthwhile additions to the game's engine can be integrated into the game.
Thoughts?

No.
This is different. Feature requests is for requesting different things in the game. This is for perfecting the mechanics of the game.

There is something like this already, Its called "Beta Testing". Except it's only for specific people.

No craz, that is for "developers to post new builds for testing".
God, does anyone actually understand what I'm trying to say?

I think anyone should be allowed to contribute to the game.
Not just beta testers and devs

Anyone who the devs know that they think would even be able to contribute is a beta tester already.

1. I don't think random guy joe schmoe would have any valid input on improving game mechanics. If they did, they could post their idea or modded build in feature requests or mods. Except we rarely see such exemplary behavior, which would essentially make this subforum a worse feature requests 2.0, because there would be no techno viking locking down on random dumping ground for ideas.

2. Too much overlap with feature requests. Anything that could be posted in contributions could be posted in feature requests. The only criteria is that it is about something that currently is not implemented. You just made up an arbitrary division in its description to justify the creation of this subforum.

3. Too niche. How many people do you think are capable of making the game more efficient? Maybe a dozen (devs + a few experienced and motivated modders). And if they aren't posting actual stuff, the rest of the board is going to look like shit because no one else can contribute anything.

This is basically just combining Feature Requests and Mods.

If you want an example of that idea being done right, check here.

The only issue is that the people who are competent enough to try to help out are few and far between or are already "promoted" to beta tester.

My section is useful when we're not trolling for no apparent reason.

Anything anyone can create to make the game better is usually posted in Mods, or in FR as a proof of concept...

So, no.
